Narayan Murthy

He is a software engineer and the co-founder of Infosys Technologies, a consulting and IT services company based in India. He is currently the non-executive Chairman of Infosys.

He was the CEO of the company for 21 years, from 1981 to 2002. After stepping down as CEO in 2002, he has broadened his scope of activities to social services as well as promoting India globally. His estimated net worth is $1.6 billion as of 2010.

Awards

    * Padma Shri - Government of India
    * Padma Vibhushan - Government of India
    * Officer of the Legion of Honor - Government of France
    * Order of the British Empire- Government of United Kingdom.


These are the few things about a man who defined his own destiny.

Pradeep Sindhu (Juniper Networks)

Pradeep Sindhu (1953, Mumbai, India) is the Co-founder and Chief Technical Officer/ Vice Chairman of the Board of the Directors of Juniper Networks Inc.  He was also the CEO of the company till 1996. Sindhu is considered a technical visionary in the field of high performance and networked computing.

After completing BTech in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur in 1974, Dr Sindhu obtained his MS and PhD in Computer Science from Carnegie-Mellon University. Prior to founding Juniper, Dr Sindhu was a key member of the technical team at the Computer Science Lab at Xerox PARC. His research specialized in VLSI design tools and high-speed interconnects for shared-memory multiprocessor systems. This work led to the commercial development of Sun Microsystem's first high-performance multiprocessor system family, which included the SS1000 and SS2000. Dr Sindhu also played a central role in the architecture, design, and development of the M160/M40/M20 routers  Juniper's flagship Internet router family.

Ashish Gupta (Tavant/Junglee)

Ashish Gupta (CSE/88) is a co-founder of Helion and serves on the boards of Gridstone Research, Jivox, Kirusa, MuSigma, Naukri.com, and SMS Gupshup. He has co-founded two successful companies - Tavant Technologies and Junglee that pioneered comparison shopping on the internet. He has also worked at Woodside Fund, Oracle Corporation and IBM research. Anurag Bist

Dr. Anurag Bist received B.Tech. degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, India, M.S. degree from Princeton University, and Ph.D. degree from University of Hawaii, all in Electrical Engineering.

He is Co-founder and CEO, Moxair, Inc., a California based technology start up focusing on power management solutions for mobile multimedia devices.
He is founder and Chairman of Ashmar. Dr. Bist brings years of entrepreneurial, leadership and IPR domain experience to the founding team of Ashmar.

In 1999, Anurag co-founded VxTel, a successful fabless semiconductor company in VoIP infrastructure, acquired by Intel in 2001 for $550 Million in cash. He led the world wide firmware team at VxTel and helped grow the company from 5 people to over 160 in 2 years. In 2001, Intel acquired VxTel for $550 Million.

Prabhakar Goel

Dr Prabhakar (Prabhu) Goel is the Chairman of Duet Technologies Inc, a company which is engaged in designing chips as well as developing software in electronic design automation and telecommunications networking.

Dr Goel earned his Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur and received Presidents Gold Medal Award. He received a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, US in 1974. After this, he held positions in Engineering and Management with IBM and Wang Laboratories.

Dr Goel has been a leading entrepreneur and was Founder and CEO of Gateway Automation Software, which was acquired by Cadence. In 1990 Dr Goel was recognized as Entrepreneur of the year for New England by Inc. Magazine and Ernst Young. In addition to being successful entrepreneur, Dr Goel has been very active in supporting community organizations both in US and in India. In 1994, Dr Goel initiated the Foundation for Excellence Project which support very bright but needy students who otherwise would not be able to complete their education. Dr Goel was recognized for his outstanding community service and their support for education in India by Indians for Collective Action in November 1996.

Dr Goel is conferred with the Distinguished Alumnus Award of the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur

Saurabh Srivastava

In my opinion Suarabh is the most promising entrepreneur

Name: Saurabh Srivastava

DOB: March 4, 1946 in Allahabad

Schooling : St Joseph's High School

Achievements :

-  In 1961 he passed the senior Cambridge examination in the first division.

-  1963, stood 2nd in the All India exam and chose to join IIT Kanpur

-  1968, graduated from IIT Kanpur in 1968 with a CPI of 9.1.

-  Did Masters from Harvard University

In 80’s he successfully built the software exports for Indian Companies like A V Thomas Software Research Limited and Tata Unisys Ltd. (IIS Infotech) which has become one of the top 20 software companies in India and the first software company to get ISO 9001 Quality Certificate. With liberalization he saw great opportunity to expand business worldwide through acquisitions and collaboration and now have presence in several countries.

He became the Chairman of the Electronics and Computer Software Promotion Council (ESC) and served in that capacity for 4 years. He is also a founding member of National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) and is currently its Vice President.

The immediate future would probably be slow would be my guess; outside of company results, there are reallocations likely to happen on the LP side (institutions that invest into PE funds); all this will take some time to sort out.
