Why do women work?

Today, woman no longer wants to remail dependant on male. They want to achieve something, fulfill their dreams, reach their goal, financially indepandent and have an image of their own. So, they work.

"A musician must make music, an artist must paint, a poet must write, if he is to be at peace with himself. What a man can be, he must be. This is the need we may call self-actualization ... It refers to man's desire for fulfillment, namely to the tendency for him to become actually in what he is potentially: to become everything that one is capable of becoming ..."

Self actualization is different from self dependent. A man and woman are both dependent to each other. A liitle earning can't change the nature's rule. So I think for self actualisation, they may work.

I don't think anyone has really bothered to think, because majority, niether men nor women have passionate committments to ideology or cause, or even an ambition, they just drift, the trend now is for women to be educated meet mr.right or not so right during the course get married,  1job+1 child+2cars, etc.

The question appears to be a little anachronistic. Why should a woman not use her potential fully, and lead a complete life ? The difference between genders as such is narrowing down, to temperamental, rather than gender-specific differences.

There was a division of labour in the past, but the area of housework, or bringing up children has largely, been outsourced, and neither the man or woman of the house do it. A family unit comprises of independent individuals leading their own lives, and meeting under a common roof, for bonding and sharing. The commitments to each other, are more mental and emotional, rather than financial or physical. The relationship between parents and children, also, comes to a more or less equal footing at some stage.

In this scenario, where does the question of a woman being obligated to stay at home, and manage the household arise ? Yes, the beauty of the situation is that she still retains the choice to do so, if desired. The concept of " work" is also changing with several options of working from home. India is yet to develop the part-time or working- for -a -few -hours a day concept. If it is introduced, many more women are likely to enter the work force, and not necessarily the educated and enlightened ones.

Utilize her education in some fruitful work and learn more with practical knowledge

As per my personal experience, most of the women are working for self identity. As this is a male dominating society in which woman/lady/girl mostly known by her father's name before her marriage & by husband"s name after her marriage.

So getting financial freedom/equality are the secondary things, but they want to create their self identity which will give them respect among their people.

The feeling of self identity is really feel good for women & it put them on top of world, as most of the women are really care most for their feelings & to them who understand their feelings.

We all work for money. I would like to know how many of you would continue to work for "no-pay" "no money".

Work can be done either for a renumeration or just free of cost.

Earlier the women used to work free of cost and mostly in their own homes, in the fields etc.

Now they do work to make money as employees, like the men.

There is no difference as such.

It's high time that INDIAN MEN as a part of progressive Indian civilization, shed their age-old beliefs and thoughts and instead adopt more open mindedness towards issues as critical as this. Well it gives me immense satisfaction that most of us are doing that and the generation X and generation Y has already accepted this but still for those who haven't we should understand that women deserve the right to live as per their own beliefs. We should not thrust our beliefs on them in  the garb of bailing out order and culture in society.
