Lack of interst, lack of understanding, and zero knowledge about how it works makes us give the excuse that we don't have time for it. I have seen a lot of people giving this reason... |

well , biggest problem is lack of interest. moreover some of us feel that we wont be able to concentrate, so we hardly give time to meditation. But its essential and should be inculcated well.
Everything changes with time. The meditation and Yaga which once dominated the known world become obsolete and bearing less important. We love new cultures and other countries than ours and fallow them sincerely. It is very difficult to revive until unless some miracle happens.

I believe we all know about the benefits of meditation, however we dont do it because of laziness and are ready everytime with one or the other excuse eg no time, tired, working late night etc. and I consider myself as the true example :). Will set alarm for 5.30 or 6.00am and but dont gets up :)

Now a day people can not concentrate on one thing which is the pre-requisite for meditation. Moreover the best time for meditation is the morning which is almost difficult for those who is having hectic schedule. So all in all a sign of laziness.

we are not interested in following that is our age old customs, traditions etc the moment the same thing comes from a foreign land we ape it. Most of the asian countries have benefitted from our culture like japan, china etc and many europeans are adopting and joining the hare krishna movement. But we go after valentine's day and so on. |

Sudarshanrao garu! I concur with you. Meditation will be useful only when it is practised as part of Ashtanga Yoga. To handle it in ISOLATION is only a fashion statement. Most of our SWAMIS are aiming at the westernised Indian audience. The notion that any body, in any state can practise MEDITATION without following basics is not correct. The order ,in brief, is ASANA,PRANAYAM , DHYANA. Without the former TWO, straight away attempting DHYANA(MEDITATION) is not wise and will not yield desired results/bebefits.

If we know the actual benefits of meditation, we can know the importance our forefather gave to it

Fear of doing some wrong practice may be too a reason for the same.Ramdeo taught yoga to lakhs of people but few could not understand it or were in a hurry and they were trapped with muscular pain or even dislocation.Anything in this world needs guidance, care and patience.

Life in cities is so busy that we hardly get any time to meditate!!!todays life we dont get any time to spend with family and friends, extended working hours, traffic, work pressure makes us so tired that after reaching home we just prefer to go to bed! NO TIME FOR MEDITATION.

“I know I should be meditating but I just can’t find the time” or “I wish I could take time to reflect but I keep getting laziness”

It is only a matter of setting priorities. We all have 24 hours every day nothing more nothing less. We use what we can we waste what we want. Even Nehru and Gandhi had 24 hrs. Former Air Chief Air Marshal Tipnis once said in a TV interview "If you get up early you have a longer day."
|

Simple. Meditation requires utmost concentration. Concentration is lacking to day amongst all of us and i guess our grasping abilities are also falling. The reason for low productivity is only this. In this scenario, how can one medidate?

in todays worlds anything that is freely available and very practical and useful we do not use them or praactise them but we go and but shortcut like buying instant food in tablets, instant cure, instant relief so on...
if you ask there is a regular rgime of health consious people like correct diet, exercise, yoga, meditation etc but their percentage is very low and getting lower.
normally our enlightenmet come when we get into trouble of health or otherwise till then just push it for another day

If we are able to raise our counsciousness to the awareness of thought, that is meditation too. People who can start thinking, if they have been thoughtless, that is meditation too. The qulaity of thought is just as important as the act of thinking.

One of the means to raise consciousness is practicing REIKI. It is a stepping stone to meditation in addition to other benifits such as healing of the body, mind and soul, protection from evil, distributing love and kindnes to all and many other acts of virtue.

Peoples who have money think about making more and more money. They work till night spent time in pubs and ready to make more money. Going pub give them more enjoy then medidation. They are money making factories. The other peoples who have not money say that why we should meditate because we are still not getting food for two times. I think we should change our concerns. |

We need communal harmony for sure. Narendra Modi will be fasting for 3 days for communal harmony. Anna has re-injected this new "fasting trend" . But do we really need such a fast. Do you think this fast is going to benefit the society in any form? |
