The local guys are coming into the market great guns. They've got very affordable handsets with locally tailored offerings like marathon battery life to help with power problems that make them appealing. A Debut mobile phone from Micromax phone offered 30 days of standby battery life a breakthrough in a country where around 400 million people still have no electricity. |

They are as per requirements of Indian buying nature, especially at a affordable prices. Moreover, I agree with the views posted by friends from this side.
Thanks Ms. Sheetal.
Sheetal everything about India is unique. The cell phone user base has grown in excess of 500 million and growing on top of that re purchase and probably these are the reasons the cellphone are now tailered as per the Indian neeed by the Indian Companies.
It is good going and a good step by our enterprenures.
Indian handset makers are ruling the roost as they are better able to understand the Indian market and their phones have additional features at an attractive price. Foreign manufacturers and other major players in the Indian market don't have a good understanding of the Indian rural psyche.
This slight gap has been exploited by the Indian handset makers and they are fully meeting the requirements of the rural populace.....

INDIAN HANDSET BRANDS... are winning the Race Hands Down, simply because they are giving Fantastic Value for Money to their Customers. Lets face it... WE GET TIRED OF any MOBILE However Good, in MAX 2 YEARS. Then why Pay So Much Money for International Brands like Nokia, Samsung, Sony etc. Similar Features are PACKED IN THESE INDIAN MOBILES, so why not spend less & get more for a change ? JAI HO !! |

They are well placed in between the higher international brands and the cheap Chinese sets. They are providing excellent quality features with a price much lesser than famous brands and little higher than Chinese ones. so, its fantastic value for money.

The availability of Indian made hand sets across various markets helps increase the sales quantum. |

I think the Indian handset makers are ruling the roost mainly because there is something Indian in all these phones, or there is some attribute that connects with the Indianess way of thinking, be it the long life battery, the names given to these phones, and messaging options in different Indian languages....also we are getting same features that are there in a blackberry in a micromax phone, so why would not people go for these at 4k than paying 20k for a blackberry phone....all these things are making Indian handset makers rule the roost. |

Its the case of a market still waiting to realise its full potential. And with such a wide income disparity, low priced handsets in fancy assortments and colours with basic features plus a few others are bound to rule the roost. Most of these mobile manufacturers would be getting their equipments from cheap taiwanese or chinese manufacturers and reselling them at a neat profit. |

Marketing is big time necessary to spread the word in the first place, if people dont know about the product at all in the first place how are you even expecting your consumers to buy by just placing the product in the shelf....that wont happen, if... |
" Retail chain Shoppers Stop today said it may increase prices of its products by 6-7 per cent from April this year in order to offset the 10 per cent excise duty imposed on branded apparel in the Budget 2011-12 .".. This is a news I just read... |
Brands still tend to box her into a simplistic classification of the bahu, beti, biwi, ma, seductress....will this type of marketing to women work out in the first place. What do you think people are brands still into simplistic classification... |
