Two scenarios can fit into this. One is when employee becomes dull of the daily routine. Same job, with same skills and everything becomes dull, then it's time for employees to move on. The second scenario can be when employee don't feel challenged with the current job. Employees sometime need more responsibilities and work to challenge their skills or they leave in hunt of another job for fresh challenges. |

IT play a vital role in IT professioinal life , people always Challenge then self with their skill to establish in IT industry but some time they are facing 10% of failure meanwhile i agreed that IT Industry is not static economy in world and it creates dynamic changes in IT world so people have fear to sustain in IT world ... i think so only people are quit from IT world .... But My passion is IT only ............. IT can change the world ............ IT is power of technology .... xie xie ...
Mismatch is the job responsibility & there is no exciting projects.
Pardon my understanding of the Englsh language but isn't the title of the topic a little misleading? I mean the title says why people quit IT industry? And everyone has commented on leaving their present IT jobs. When I saw I the title I thought poeple would comment upon why they left the IT industry completely purchased some land with the money they had made and started a small scale industry or something.
Sorry but I have not much to add to this title but it sure would be interesting to know if someone left IT industry and started doing something else with their lives which was non IT.

Most of the firms does have managers which are either over-promoted OR are just too technical but - lacks people management skills, unable to demostrate examples & leadership skills, shows much aggressiveness, maintains a political enviroment among themselves, never motivates the team, kills enthusiasm among team members, doesn't appreciate, and doesn't recommend a strong contenders for promotions or otherwise..!! |

Delayed Promotions might not be the concern here but Yes working under incapable and incompetent seniors i feel is very frustrating to deal with.....

While recession often hits the IT industry : the IT companies tend to over hype it in order to deny proper benefits and compensation to their existing employees. Stagnation in career is another major reason. You cannot have N number of Managers, so some have to remain content with the role of "Software labor class" for the rest of their lives. The Indian IT industry has a hollow background. It is not based upon expertise, but rather on the dollar to rupee ratio. In order to grow in their lives, in order to do what they dream to , many intelligent persons are leaving (and will leave in the future) the IT industry. |

Yeah, Because People think that the industry is not stable..
Definitely! People head towards more secure jobs in such instances.

Employees are often promised certain things on what exactly the jobs consist of but after joining the company they find out a completely different picture. It becomes painfully clear to the new hire that the company played a bait-and-switch game and now they are trapped in doing something that they don't want to. |

A few of the points mentioned above are quite true. But "No fun or enjoyment in job/ unchallenged", certainly doesn't apply to all. Hoards of people enter this industry just because they see job opportunities in it. They never give a thought to the idea that they should be entering the field of their expertise/liking. After being dejected by their sub-standard performance they either quit the industry or continue to be there as a drag. Counselling centres should be established in schools/jr. colleges to guide pupils at a young age to find the field of their expertise, one which matches their aptitude. |

The IT industry in India is marked by fierce competition, which is very evident to everyone. A person who has been working with one company for 2 years, knows quite a lot about the clients and the kind of projects, at least the account he has been working on. People in IT industry tend to be lured away easily by the competing companies by offering higher package/onsite opportunities. Companies do this poaching in the hope of getting some experience and information regarding the clients and using the employee for business developments/leads. Candidates get more money/benefits than their current company for a similar kind of role. |

IT involves tremendous effort to do jobs which are often tiresome, boring and very routine. and when one completes teh job after bearing pain and misery of the tedious job your manger/team lead never accepts that with smile or a praise. They simply think that it was a task performed in unnecessary number of hours and that you could have used another 'efficient approach'. for them you are just working machines no matter how much effort you put its always less. even if you work on weekends and 10 hrs a day.

In the pas few area there was huge rush to this segment from all corners, many cirtification agencies opened up their umbrella allover - like top companies such as NIIT to govt aided agencies, this has resulted in just cirtification & employment of many of which most of the candidates are just lucky to grab the opportunity, but the continuos influx tilted the demand & supply ratio. If you look at those quittingeither high persformers being headhunted or most sought of or the bottom category which just hops before understanding their assignment in their company as this population is very high it attributes to the high attrition. |

In IT jobs there is no rest for mind and also for body... there is no uniformity.. the companies takes lots of projects which is bulk to complete in scheduled period.. so employee get lost his patience to work beyond their time of capability... |
