Why Students are not allowed to choose their own career?

I mean this happens in most of the families, where parents they couldn't become what they really wanted to become, and hence they want their children to pursue the same thing even if they really don't like it at all, in a way they will be forcing their ambition on their kids, and in the end what their children really like and love will be forgotten..this is a tricky situation for kids as they don't want to dissapoint their parents by refusing them, and hence they choose a wrong career for themselves.

Parents always see what other kids are doing and force their own kids to take up that career. They don't think whether their kids like that career or not. Their only concerned with their kids settling down in life as soon as possible.

A nation state is one where people cluster together with certain common bleifs and aspirations. When a nation state is planed one is required to do it in such a way that no lopesided effect prevails in social, culutal, political or economic processes, the thing missing in our conception of our new India post independence.

Effectiveness of a policy and actions is measured by the outcomes generated from that policy and action. Our policies of creation of nation state of India seems to be degenerate and ineffective till now. We never per se create effective policies all which look irrational to the viewer.

This creates voids in our social and cultural manifestation of life one of whch is career selection. Students have only few choices of profession unlike other countries where every campus offers a choice of around 200 fields of specializaion. Then comes wage policies where some profesions citizen get higher  pay than others and people cluster to these even if they don't have talents to acquire skills in it because of parental influence or future wealth needs.

Then comes the Evolutionary traps and predicaments of the citizen which are not planed through implementation of democratic behavior. Some profesions give higher status in society to which students are clustered towards.

So only effective comprehensive policies ratiionaly built where out comes are generated and visible is the only solutions to overcome this defect in the build up of an Economy.

another reason why kids are forced is coz engg, medicine are considered to be the only courses which they thik the society wud respect them for, or getting respectable salaries and with the IT ad MBA coming into play these days... they are are given only 2 other options apart form the previous two to choose from. Another fact being the family prestige... which they hold higer even than their kids... coz they might be embarrased 2 tell people wat their kid studies if not the professional courses when somebody asks....

Parents who are greedy and vain want their children to earn lots of money and prestige so that they can live in luxury and boast about their children to their neighbors.

Parents take the advisory role & need to suggest them a carreer where parents feel quiet good for him. Because, at the teen their mind is not set firstly & secondly, they are not experienced .

The parents are paranoid about the future of their child, They want smooth transition in life for their children and immeasurable prosperity.They never like their child to experience the pain of employment and inadequacy  of facilities.They realize that in this age of cut throat competition,their child must stand apart.

IN my view students or we should put it as children born with so called silver spoon in a traditional and prestigious Indian family are the most common victim to this particular problem. A advocate wants his son to look after his chamber, doctor wants his son to look after his clinic, businessman promotes his son to be the nxt big thing and dare you protests all 1001 relatives will start blackmailing you otherwise.
