This certainly relieves the traffic tension to a great extent in the urban centers. This will also create more employment opportunities for the youth of the small towns.

So, why we usually don't see this happening??

Perception

idea posted by Ruchi Chawla Associate/Sr. Associate -(Technical), Cisco Systems

Its a general perception that poor people don't have talent. And moreover they will not be able to handle pressure. But the fact is people in rural & sub urban areas can handle more pressure than people in urban areas. And they can be trained at a very cheaper cost...

So, all it needs is an change in attitude.

It makes economic sense to be in sub urban areas as infrastructure and resources are cheaper. It only needs direction and leadership.

Internet band width

This has started happening now and central government has come out with a plan to net work entire country through BSNL and other service providers. Large corporates have already started thinking to move their expansion plans to 2 and 3 tier towns. Today's work force in IT field have largely come from rural background and they will all be happy to be nearer to their origins with improved civic amenities.

Education, understandig and skill is on an average lower

idea posted by Kaushik Ghosh Senior IT Officer, Minstry of Defence, Govt. of India

In terms of clerical skills average urban people are better than suburban people. BPO voice processes require mother tongue influence (MTI) free English which is better found among people in urban areas. All other basic skills including basic education and minimum understanding about these jobs are better found in urban population.

Infrastructure supported by an honest political commitment

idea posted by Anoop Dhopte Lead Developer, Avaya India
No State Govt except Gujrat is willing to invest into infrastructure and use it as a USP for semi-urban areas. In Mah all development is within the Mumbai-Pune-Nashik triangle, in Andhra its the Cyberabad, while in Karnataka its the Bengaluru vicinity. Everyone is trying to use infrastructure ( BSP) as an excuse to get into power but dont do anything after that.. So i feel infrastructure investment and an honest commitment from the political parties and corporates is the need of the day..

BPO and data entry units could be established with little change in "INTERNET BAND WIDTH",but archaic feeling is not allowing to open up.

Bridging the digital divide

idea posted by Rajal Desai Director = www.bhavyanet.com

The Idea is going to promote more employment in Sub Urban area and can create good opportunity for bridging the digital divide. May be the problem can be lack of good IT infrastructure basically like Connectivity. And the best way to solve the connectivity is to promote small ISP entrepreneurship in all this areas.

Poor connectivity

idea posted by Apeksha IT/Technical Editor,

If the company is set up in an sub-urban area, chances of poor connectivity and lack of shops can be onf the reason for this.

Added to this, the crowd behaviour and mannerisms of the locals in such area may also be one of the reasons for not setting up a BPO in an sub-urban area.

fear of being attacked, personal safety can also pose a problem

Networking & communication with parental company

idea posted by KALIYAMOORTHY Oil & Gas Area Coordinator, Undisclosed

Most of the BPO / KPO offering companies has good networking from the urban's than in suburban. This help co-ordinate with their parent company much easier & efficiently. Like transacting of funds, resources etc. Formal release is very fast in urban but, suburban  yet need to organize to the adequate level.
