To integrate social media and collaborative technologies, the traditional organization need to go through some drastic changes in their internal structure. Just by changing Enterprise to Enterprise 2.0 superficially will not enable the organization to harness the collaborative energy within the organization or with the prosumers. Traditional Firms will be challenged seriously by new and emerging competitors if they do not radically alter their power structure and control of information to take advantage of Web 2.0.

Getting corporations to adopt Web2.0 concepts has more to do with corporate culture than technical prowess unfortunately. I do believe that the huge build up of momentum created by social networks, mash ups etc will force the corporate world to change kicking and screaming. The reason being that such huge competitive advantage can be realized through creative application of Web2.0 concepts to corporate problems

Where ideas and thinking was flowing in an unidirectional mode and with employees simply listeners and doers, the first milestone is to change the practice. Employees need to start contributing. This is not a technology game, it is a work culture game. A great sustainable example of this is the Quality Circle concept used in Japan where it was the factory workers who came up with their own solutions to constantly improve quality of their output
