Every country has its own anti harassment policies. I suggest that the employee should at least makes an effort to know these policies and take such actions that will prove the misconduct of the troublemakers and teach them a lesson accordingly. After all nobody likes to have a legal harrassment complaint registered in their name in legal records.

Standing up for One's Own Rights against Workplace Harrassment is the key. I have come across a numerous organizations, both Indian & MNCs, who have a very stringent Anti-workplace harrassment policy. The senior / top management in all such organizations, do not let a single incidence going un-noticed and take stern steps to make examples out of them. One need not fear for his / her image or job stability, in such situations. Your Principles in life always have to come before everything else.

Leave The Job

idea posted by Renne Sharma HR Analyst, ABC Consulting

In my opinion if you are a person who respects himself/herself then you should leave the job right away. Before leaving make sure that the concerned person is punished for his/her deed. It doesn't matter whether he is the chairman or employee of that company.

If the company management is not taking any action, feel free to lodge a police complaint.

There are people who stand for their rights & then leave the place...what they gain?

Go complaint to the HR team. Because a women has got the power in her hands. She can ruin the career of the person who is harassing her with the help of the HR team. The person can even be black listed from the company. So do not keep quite and leave the job. Cos we need to put a full stop to such things. Leaving the job is not solution.

PRECAUTION IS THE BEST REMEDY BY KEEPING EYES & EARS OPEN

An employee must keep herself aware of with necessary knowledge of rules of the organization and the legal provisions, specifically for self defense point of view. She must keep eyes and ears open all the time to smell the environments properly and adopt precautions from becoming target of the harassment. She must remain firm and should never compromise with these principles.

idea posted by Jitendra Nath Mishra Admin/Facilities Manager, Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Central University, Lucknow

Dear all

First of all we should also keep this in mind that the boss to whom we are reportable is also serving/an employee like us. So, for the illegal order, bad things if we can be punished, due to which we are afraid of our bosses, like wise the boss is also bound with the rules and orders and he can also be punished for the same. We should try to perform our duties properly and honestly within the set frame of rules and orders. Of course, we should be flexible also sometime in our dealings,if situation so demands,  in order to pay respect to our boss because after all he/she is our senior/boss and must be respected/obeyed. It is essentia to keep in mind that while we are flexible we should not deviate in a big way in our principle.

We should have transparancy in our dealings. If things even don't get settled, under the principle of transparancy we must report/share the matter with seniors/administrators.

THE ATTITUDE SHOULD BE TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. LEAVING AND RUNNING FROM THE JOB DUE TO THIS REASON IS NOT ADVISABLE BECAUSE U R NOT SURE THAT THAT THIS PROBLE MAY NOT COME FORWARD THERE.

Harassment becoming serious issue for many organizations today. Best way to over come.

1) Be as you are

2) Take it to the notice of your HR department & Top Management

3) Start giving interview immediately

4) When there is no action or sign of change, move ahead with options outside your company

Don't bad mouth or post any negative review about your employer which may directly affect your future employment

I know it is tough but there is no other better solution than holding patience and hit out at the right opportunity

try to evaluate first if the actions are really intentional for harassment, some people dont really have any intention to do harasment, it was only misunterstood. but, if ever your employer or your colleague have bad intention to you, talk to him frankly that you dont like what he is doing and there are too many ways to avoid harassment by simply knowing and evaluating yourself first.

the age is survival of the weakest age,

1. the written complaint (dormant) only to be known to the concerned addressees, will morally drive bosses to keep an eyes over the culprites creating harrassments.

2.when culprits are detected must be served with memos, and a rehabilitation of better mindset training programme must be oriented for those to churn the devil out of mind .once done keep them under observation for few weeks.

if changed problem is solved not only for suffering person but for ever.

try it because no appex body want anything negative against their inst and even to their leadership committments towards subordinates.

idea posted by KAMAL TANDON GENERAL MANAGER - SALES
A very common occurance now a days, whether sexual and or work related harassment.incompetent and old haggard bosses are the main culprits, who in order to save their own skins resort to such deplorable acts. if you are a victim, stand up and fight it out with like minded colleagues and even friends from other walks of life. reporting to higher authorities rarely help, due to the influence of such people in the work place .believe me people who resort to harassment are basically cowards and they are only trying to hide their incompetence by using their authority. hence if they are confronted with toughness they in most of cases withdraw.additionally one can use the harassment at work place act by lodging a complaint with human rights commissions, which scare the life out of such elements.

Yes, I agree with you. In fact initially in my career I left the job with immediate effect. A person who have self belief is ready to face any situation. So please teach the lesson to that person who is responsible for your exit from the company so that he will not repeat this mistake again to any other employee. But while leaving the job you should get the necessary clearance from concerned departments & relieving letter from H.R. Dept.& also you should give assurance to employer that your future action will not harm your previous employer in any way.
