Mr Joshi, we are paying for water even right now. The water connections are as well metered in many cities. Yes you can talk about increasing charges/lt. |

In Chennai, for the metro water [ here being called as corporation water ] through pipe connections, we are charged. The system is already in place. Moreover, both the people using corporation water as well as the water from the bore well are regularly buying can waters for drinking purposes, including all corporate offices, due to water contamination. Now a days water becomes a scarcity and forced to buy can/bottled water.

The way things are and way we are wasting water to control wastage soon there will come a stage where water will be metered and we will have to pay for the water like they do in the Gulf countries. Would you be ready to pay for water or pay a water tax or some way if you are charged for water would you be ready to pay for it

In almost all cities and towns, water is being supplied and the customers are paying for it. But the collection is on adhoc basis. The water boards are not able to find scientific measures to adequately charge the consumers and are unable to tap the leakages. |

Its an age-old phenomenon. We are paying for everything, barring air! One day we will be forced to pay for so much cusecs of air we have inhaled, and tax for exhalation of carbon-dioxide - polluting the atmosphere!
