Do you think Sustainable Development is a burning need of the hour, Why ...?

Sustainable development in different aspects caters to the needs of the future generations and protecting tommorrow's life through today's actions. In this age of high-consumption, luxury and exploitation of natural resources without proper replacement, the life of the future World inhibitants is going to be very tough one.

So, the need of the hour is to protect environment, add to the greens, recycle-reuse-reduce waste products, reduce exploitation of earth's resources, live simply and act aptly to make own survival a smoother one.

All the resources that nature provides by means of rainfall, snow, sunlight etc have a task to perform. Nature never avoids that! The seasons will fall the way they are supposed to and we will continue destroying to build 'MORE'!

Its a very interesting idea! In fact newsprints and other such mags have always carried articles on rain water management, waste management or energy conservation and how we as mankind can hugely benefit from it! But I guess we only read it and talk about it and DO NOTHING in the end!

All these are good to discuss but the truth is I havent been able to be an integral part of it AT ALL! The sole reason is that I have not found like minded people who would eagerly step forward to COLLECTIVELY move ahead! I have lost interest in it now! I am also a guilty party because I have no TIME!!

All such good things have to be a force and that force can only be experienced when its a COLLECTIVE MOVEMENT!

The Idealogy is simple..

There are various measures to SAVE The PLANET at this JUNCTURE.. Enough of Damage is already done..

If we can't maintain the Environment any further atleast don't harm them any further..

There are many areas where sustainable development done now can prevent disaster.

Current levels of food production in the world are supported by two unsustainable resources. Oil and gas use to produce nitrates for fertilisers and mining of fossil guano to produce phosphates for fertilisers.

There may be fourty years of oil left and thirty years of phosphates but in even fifteen years time these will get more expensive to extract and the price will spiral upwards denying these resources to the poorest.

Returning to agricultural practices used before chemical fertiliser use is not an option as the productivity was a quatrer of that currently seen and populations much larger.

Sustainable modern solutions need to be developed now such as phosphate recovery from wastewater by algae. Nutrient and energy recovery from food, forestry and agricultural waste using anaerobic digestion are just two technologies in their infancy that deserve huge investment because of their potential roles in averting the immanent humanitarian cost of unsustainable farming.

At present the Major energy needs of any country is in the form of Electricity for lighting , Comfort and industrial needs of day to day lively hood Applications . Another important need is for cooking and transport application where this need is addressed in the form of LPG / Petrol /Diesel etc. A common feature of all the above applications need to have fossil fuel exploitation which leads to an accelerated depletion of Natural Resources and causing an unprecedented growth in ecological imbalance exponentially. Year after year we are witnessing a clear growth indication in global warming and the Adverse effects are well known to the world. Hence we need to work with a model of Renewable Energy ( the word renewable itself means continuously regenerating resources that are not causing the adverse effect to ecological imbalance ) . Focused efforts on Research, Development and cost effective mass scale commercialisation of alternate energy resources without depleting natural resources. It is the emergency need of whole world. The ever Growing Energy needs can be effectively meet by all the following practices by Alternate Energy Generation practices other than fossil fuel Burning Conservation by Energy Efficiency and effective demand side management Smart Distribution Alternate Energy Generation can be Achieved through Solar PV / Solar Thermal , Wind , Hydal Biomass , Biogas and Geothermal Technologies. The major energy consuming need of comfort cooling or comfort heating can be Achieved through Passive down draft evaporative cooling / Geothermal Applications . Key challenges in each technology in solar PV , though the technology is absolutely Clean and Green ( i.e without creating any pollution to the Environment ) the major challenge is the cost of production . This challenge can be meet by improving the efficiency of Photovoltaic module at a cheaper price . The cheaper price does not mean any compromise in quality but by extensive R&D in improvement of Module Efficiency and large scale commercialization. In solar Thermal process same principle will Apply but the smart production in CSP ( concentrated solar power ) modules and Fresnel lenses , Improvement in cheaper heat storage Technology solutions , optimizing water usage and also a stringent safety & control measures . Wind and Hydal are being kinetic type of energy in nature but depends on resource specific Availability. Biomass/ BioGas is one excellent option to be tapped for decentralized energy generation with abundant and malutilised rather unutilized resources . The Availability of biomass mainly on biodegradable Agri waste like Rice Husk , cotton , Redgram , Ground nut stack and shells which is not of any use even as cattle feed is used to be burnt and creating a lot of pollution to the Environment . This waste can be processed by compression, removal of moisture content and make pellets / Briquettes which can be used as heating fuel in industrial boilers / smokeless stoves thereby saving a lot of conventional Energy and mitigation of Methane , carbon di oxide release to the Atmosphere . Alternatively this heat can be used as a substitute for coal in conventional Thermal power projects . Another excellent Application of biomass is as an important added biodegradable raw material component beside Animal waste in biogas plants through Anaerobic digestation process .is process also help in hygiene and pubic health in Municipal solid waste management. The produced methane can be further purified upto 98.5 percent and can be bottled in cylinders for any of cooking , automotive and industrial Applications. All these Applications are absolutely clean and green and will attract good amount of carbon credits in the form of CER ( Certified Emission Reductions ) from UN FCCC when we aggregate nationwide.
