I agree with points #3 till #10. But I doubt about #1 and #2.
#1 is bit difficult to know about some new friends who gets introduced by your existing friend or thru business interest or due to some other reason. You may know limited info about the new friend.
#2 - If you remove yourself from search, then some old friend/collegue of yours will not be able to get in touch with you. Who may not have your contact details like if ur old college friends or old company collegues or someone whom you have met in a seminar or get-together or party but forgot to exchange email-id / contact numbers!
