DMK MP Kanimozhi and Kalaignar TV chief Sharad Kumar, named as co-conspirators in the 2G spectrum scam, were on Friday taken into custody after a special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court rejected their bail pleas.

Her security guard burst into tears as the judge announced his decision.

As the judge pronounced the verdict, co-accused -- and former communications minister -- A. Raja looked shocked. The DMK MP is already in jail in connection with the case, related to irregularities in the allocation of airwaves to telecom companies that caused huge losses to the exchequer.
She has been charged under the Prevention of Corruption Act for taking bribe through Kalaignar TV -- a channel run by DMK -- in which a sum of Rs 200 crore was routed from Shahid Usman Balwa's firm DB Realty.

So is this it? What about that money?? I think the punishment should not be jail but they should ask for money.. Perhaps more than 2 crore.. That will be the right judgement..

I agree with Mr. Kumara Swamy. The rules & regulations should be well defined, stricter and easy to implement. Moreover these rules need to be implemented. A lawyer always tries to direct the merit and favor of the case towards some convenient direction and apply leniency of Indian constitution to set these criminals free.

Mr. Kumara Swamy I agree that we are good in being a mere spectator however it is you and me who can give out our ideas of extraction of the money wasted in context of 2G scam or CWG case as well as the money laundered in Swiss banks what we need is to be united and crown out the ideas of extraction and as I can see that you are well experienced in your field and you have great background of education moreover you have interests in national concern too why don't you try to devote at least half hour per day in thinking about our nation and it's well being in every respect?

As an true Indian no body likes to kill any body, however there should be some termination for such scams. I am carefully observing the Govt. and other officials to do something since ARSHAD MEHATHA case. Nothing has been done so far. Ms Ardhendu Pal, who has guts to recovery of huge money. I hope in India recovery is not possible and hanging such people is also not possible. Ultimately, we the INDIANS are the sufferers and become good spectators.

No I don't agree that hanging them will by any means benefit the national interest rather as per my suggestion let them pay those money plus service taxes and income taxes and the government to find ways investing those money extracted in betterment of farming land and infrastructure and I am sure that according to national interest and welfare the money is enough to transform around 30 poor villages to rich and affluent cities if money properly utilized ...........
When I suggested some time back to identify and hang one or two scamsters in public, honourable friends commented that I am talking like a Taliban. Only fear of hanging stops corruption. Nothing else.

Its really a pity to see that politicians posing behind the bars, but its not going to change anything in their life. At the end people who elected them should know that they've made a mistake and never repeat such blunder. Now people in India has got a mentality that no politician is good, if that is the case, then every Indian should take responsible for what has happened as we are the one who has made our country to this present situation.

The accused should not be given special treatment in jail Viz. bath attached toom, TV , Kanimozhi should stand in Q for her Natural call with other inmates. Let her experience the bitter side of Life.

I am concerned with the final outcome of the 2G scam. I least bother what is happening at present.Like stock market scam involving big bull Hershad Meheta and recovery of entire money the investigating agencies must act and proceed with speed to file chargesheets(not bullshits)to obtain exemplary conviction against all the accused persons involved in 2G,CWG,Adarsh Society etc. scams and recovery of the entire money back to national exchequer.Simultaneously we must raise a sustained campaign to ammend the Indian criminal laws on the US pattern to bring early conviction.Look at the cases involving Gallon Hedge Fund owner Rajratnam and time taken for his conviction in billion dollar insider trading in US and arrest of IMF chief Strauss Kahn involved in a rape case. The moot point is speed in conducting investigation, filing chargesheet and conducting judicial proceedings leading to conviction.
Thanks Tina for your untiring efforts to raise topical issues and soliciting opinions.

thanks for info ma'am :):)There was a famous story, A group of 3 child planned to steal a Vase from the school. One of them made the planning. The other took it from the school. It was placed in third's home. teacher came who already has suspected TRIO. The boy who made the plans said- I did not take it and it is not at my home. The boy who took it from the school said- I had made no plans and it is not at my home. The boy who had the Vase said- I did not make any plans and did not took it away from the school. All the three were CORRECT and TRUE.yet they have played the game.
The 2G /3G scam is like the story. Mrs Karunanidhi is left as she did not know English. What a beautiful excuse. This should be provided in the Companies Law. Law Minister should not the good idea from CBI the Governments own organ. The share in profit is 60% and liability is nothing. All Indians should not it and they can get a profit of Rs.120 crores i.e. 60% of Bribe

I will not agree with Sujith Kumar, if we cancel the citizenship for their whole family is not a great punishment for them. As Kumara Swamy said we should hang them in front of public no inquiry or investigation it take another 5 years after the government might change there is a possibility of escape so hang them in front of public.

I agree with Mr.Kumara Swamy, the best option would the citizen ship should be cancelled for the whole family member or recover the money by twice of the same only then the people who r involved into these kind of activities will get the fear and also get into force for the breaking the law i would appreciate if the CBI department is still more faster in doing the investigation but in our INDIAN law they give more importance to the witness that is what is creating a room for such kind of people and the CBI department or the police have to slog to get one evidence or witness to file the case that why these people dont have fear on the government

From My opinion they deserve jail and court should ask for money (200cr) also because that matters for Country. If they get bail and case run for many years as usual than it again give the +ve motivation to the corrupt leaders/Businessman/etc.

Just see the sheer audacity in this bribery scandal. Papa dear turns the screws at the centre and gets his sons and daughter positions he wants and they fleece the exchequer of crores. I hope we can get to clean up all this sordid scams with new political faces as Mamta Banerjee.
I wonder what one does with a thousand crores. I thought that for a decent middle-class life even one crore was more than sufficient for more than 100 families. Greed is the basis of it all. Nothing is ever enough.

i agree with Kumara Swamy. Right from independence we have been a mute spectators of various scams happening in the country with toothless tigers only weapon we have mandate but till now it is not decisive in nature to oust corrupt government affront. We have no referendum system for taking bold decision. We have got CAG report on scam 1,80,000 crores unfortunately our agency CBI could not put behind bars of culprits whereas Supreme Court taken the initiative over burdening themselves to nap the culprits.

Not only recovery of money but also hang the persons to death. So that the others will not dare to involve in such scams. Unfortunately, the Indian laws are not supporting for such punishments. As a result, we need to just become a spectators of such scams not only now but also in future.
