It was like a dream come true. This weekend I was playing Cricket in RBNMS ground Bangalore. Once there was a time when I use to feel myself a born cricketer. I was a all rounder & captain of junior cricket team in Meerut (UP) stadium. There was nothing in cricket which I can’t do. And days were passing nicely. And that time I could see my self in future playing for India.
But as we all know time is everything. I lost my dream somewhere. That time I was preparing for high school, my father first said me. Dear son study is always first, I will prefer study for you, rather then cricket, cricket will give you nothing. Now it is your choice you still want to play or want to get set for your 10th Board examination. I have never said no for anything to my father, so how could this time. “Marta kya naa karta”, I left my first love and went deep into books. Now after 13 yrs from that time, when I see out of books & career line. I find my self in Cricket ground; I feel the smell of pitch, the ball and the thing which was my love the Bat. It was great. I was on 7+ skies. Now the bat was in my hand after 13 yrs and I was feeling like King of the world.
The bowler was taking his run up and I was taking my stance, he was coming closer to pitch, he moves his hand and throws the ball to me and I smashed it. That was a six and so on and on and on. That day I hit 145 in only 48 balls. I was very happy. That I still can play cricket.
But it was not all, more surprises were to come. Now it was my bowling turn and I was almost on hat trick. 2 wickets in 2 balls and then….I missed hat trick. But overall I have taken 4 wickets.
And here comes the news which changed my life in seconds. There was Dada. Dada none other then Saurav Ganguly, who was there for some work in RBNMS, and he saw me playing cricket that day. And he decided to take me in his IPL team. After match when I was going back to my house, one guard has come to me and asked me to follow him. I followed him, and he has taken me to the office, and there what I seen was Dada. I became a statue for a sec until Dada has not called me up. First thing I did I shake my hand with him then take his autograph and a photograph with him with my mobile camera. And then he give me the shocking & also best news of my life, that he has selected me to play for his team in IPL. Then I told him that I cant say yes until my father will not say yes. We make a immediate call to my father and he said yes go and play. I was so happy, I cant define. Same day we catch the evening flight to Calcutta, there we practice for 3 days, and then caught the flight to South Africa.
And you know friends it was the first IPL match, I was opening for Knight Riders and I hit the world’s fastest century only in 20 balls. And when I hit the last six to complete my century, I just fell down on ground. And this was the time my dream break and I find my self lying on my bed, Bad very bad feeling it was. A dream again broke up.
