- 1850 A.D. “I have an earache”. “That prayer is superstition, drink this potion of snake oil”.
- 1985 A.D. “I have an earache”. “Swallow this pill”.
- 2000 A.D. “I have an earache”. “That pill is ineffective, take this antibiotic”.
- 2010 A.D. “I have an earache”. “That antibiotic is artificial. Here, eat this root”.
