We hear women saying "Men should regard us as equal"..Then these same women ask for various reservations. quotas. Isn't it an irony?? For me it is..

Let me tell you something, When I was in college where there were just 5 girls and 65 boys in class. While paying the fees there used to be two lines. One for boys and other one for girls. If a boy and a girl came and stood at the same time, it took 2 mins for a girl to pay the fees and half an hour for the guy!! What a discrimination, and why??!!

I am a woman and I should support women and I am. By going against reservations. I want women to prove themselves on the same grounds as men. They definitely have proved themselves up to some extent but still it is a long way to go. But it calls for hard work and determination to reach to the goal and not "short cut" called reservation!!

When a boy sits on the ladies seat in the bus any lady would give a weird look and say "Hello Mr. it is ladies seat!!"
But if a girl sits somewhere else then ladies seat can a man tell her "It is not lladies seat.." No he cannot!! Whatever you may say, he just cannot!!

Does progress of a person depend on quota? Does it depend on anything else than hard work? Isn't it discrimination towards men community? Why don't men oppose it? Why do women like to take undue advantage out of this? Why don't the women stand up and say that we are powerful without any reservations? Why don't our society take another look at the situation?

Perhaps I have a little bit too much of revolutionary vision or may be I think beyond the common thoughts. But still doesn't this idea make you think in my way???

I agreed with your points of view. But at last we are all human beings we can't stop our selves for being selfish at a time. Humans are free to speak either they are men or women but how many of them be an Ideal person, it is right that being a woman we every time prove ourself lesser than men by asking them reservation every where. But Sarika you and me or may be some other girls who feel the same not every girl. It will take a long time for them to recognise their strength. Now girls are every where changing there attitutes they are strong and confident as you described but in small cities it is still not possible. Lets hope for the best that one day woman will say that we don't need reservation seperately.

ma'm,
It takes courage to run against tide.I salute you.
reservation itself creates discrimination..the same discrimination which it was supposed to end.

nice to hear truth about reservation from a women. It is the need of the hour that we should ask for basic amenities for all citizens like education not reservations.

I agree with views of Sarika Singh,I would like to point out that the reservations quotas will make them more feeble than empowering them as it lacks the ground for level play.I think a decade later we will find women empowered and skilled enough to compete with men on a fifty-fifty ratio if awareness is being given to educate them and make them self empowered especially in rural India.

A main concern is the reservation in local self government and other government bodies which will lead to back seat driving and corruption.

Sarika,Well said! But these activities like reservation and other terminology
used in favour of women because of soft nature standard in the society and this group has no guts to say for the same as you and and a very few.You and some other are exceptional to think about things. We all really appreciate and appraise you and your opinion but that is not going to implement on the mass level.Keep sharing such views with us..

In reality in olden times women had equal rights .Only in medival days this act of discrimination of sex began, just to suit a few religious people. Thanks to globalisation and exposure we get , things are changing for the better. but still it is there . we cant hide that.Women have started to prove their true capabilities and now we have them for company everywhere, in land sea and air.Only seldom a Kalpana Chanwla gets in to the news .But in actual there are many more ladies with much more
A good one.. that too from a woman.. Salam Sarika-ji. In olden days we were taught to respect women, in schools, on the road and in the market. We are used to move sideways to give her place to be the first one. Many of my teachers are lecturers are women. I respect them, I remember them even now. It all started with the "Women's Lib" However, I am not against reservation to women. Command Respect..Dont demand is my view point.

Well said Ms.Sarika Singh. You have expressed anguish of men inspite of being a woman. Women should stop using crutches of reservations. It is high time that girls prove themselves as equal by hardwork. As has been pointed out whether it is city bus, queue for anything or even traffic police; girls get discriminative treatment. Women should voluntarily deny taking any concessions. Physically weak does not mean mentally weak.
