Dear Shri Varun Ghandhi,                      26 March 2009
It is doubtful that your indulgence in the current controversy is willfulor due to
any strong partisan religious belief like that of the fundamentalists. I would be
only too happy to believe your side of the story of a manipulated CD.  Even if it
is not, then also I would take it that due to over enthusiasm, you inadvertently
overdid, somebody's election strategy to play with the fire of communal differences
aiming to create a majority vote bank, the only tool available to some political
parties, to gain quick support of a malleable crowd, tickling the crowd in the
delicate areas to incite them. Sadly every party vie each other to damge the secular
nature of this great democractic country one way or other. But in the process,
it just happened that you overstepped lacking the cunning to mask it wisely
camouflaging the intentions, like many other shrewed and opportunist politicians do.
May be yes, may be not. However, the more important concern you should have,
is the gross danger of your integrity getting tarnished with this unfortunate
episode. This is evident from the many events; firstly, in your denial of the
evidence brought against you. Then you declared that the substance of what is
there in the evidence is according to your views on the subject, your objections
are only about the voice and the actual words in that are not yours. Because
the case in point is about the substance of the speech, not the veracity or
origin of the evidence, you made yourselves bound by your above declaration.
However later, when confronted by the law, you proclaimed that your ideology
is diagonally opposite to the substance of the speech in the evidence.
But, then you contradicted it again in the same reply saying that the views
expressed in the evidence are fully justifiable, because many belonging to other
political parties and religious groups do the same.
You have full right to have your own ideologies based on your convictions,
and also to change your ideology any time you choose fit.
Also you have the right to fight against some one producing wrong evidence
against you. However, at any point of time one should have the moral courage
to stand by one’s convictions and deliberations based on it. Otherwise it
amounts to moral turpitude and lack of integrity which make such persons more
undesirable than those partisan ideologists.  What will happen to the country
if such persons are allowed to become Law Makers, is anybody’s guess.
I fully agree that antisocial elements and antisecualar activities in any
community, need to be curbed. But it shall be through democratic process.
Fanning hatred between communities will end up in loss of many innocent lives.
Dear Mr. Varun Gandi, the country’s future is in the hands of youngsters like you.
Being a person of noble heritage, it is only fair to believe that you will quickly
understand that the unethical designs of power mongering politicians, irrespective
of the political parties, making people like you the tools to attain their aims.
They always are on the look out for martyrs to glorify themselves and their parties.
I strongly believe that it was just a minor flaw in your amateurish political
experience and you would grow up and become bold enough to make amends and change,
for your own benefit and the magnanimous religion that uphold virtues of compassion,
love and peacefulcoexistence, a religion we all love so much, of which you are a
proud member, and for the benefit of this wonderful country.
An election is not the end of world. Losing one's integrity can make a permanent
scar in life. You may be able to win in this election, the episode would cost dearly
for BJP and thereby the country's overall political balance.
Always remember; from a splintered country ruled by many small kingdoms, exploited
and oppressed by the colonialists, a nation was born and progressed well, thanks
to your grandfather and great grand father and others, their great vision and over
and above impeccable integrity. Look at the profile of many who dare to fit into
their shoes. The time is now, for you to decide.
Wishing you a bright and honorable future, yours sincerely,   A well wisher.

Dear Mr. Abraham, I really appreciate your intention behind this letter, But do you think that the a politically stained mind will consider this. Person like Varun should understand, Leadership is not the position, it is action. But our politicians want the leadership just for position, Mr.Varun too the same.

Mr A. Paul I do share your sentiments. However, it will be very difficult for any politician to change overnight for an election. How many of them think about the views of the population? However lets hope that Mr. Varun Gandhi considers his noble heritage and take steps to regain his integrity.

My opinion is based solely on the above article. Thanks for the referral.

By the way I do indulge in political conversations locally and globally.
