Anna Hazare Starts Latest Fast

The UPA government has learnt the hard way that it can’t stop the Anna Hazare tsunami, and it is now focusing on alternative strategies even as the Gandhian social activist is beginning his much-hyped fast at Delhi’s sprawling Ramlila grounds.

The anti-corruption campaigner left Tihar Jail after spending three nights there, despite having been officially released only hours after he was detained on August 16. The government will now likely be worried that Hazare has made it clear he’s not going to budge from the fast venue until the Jan Lokpal Bill, the ombudsman bill that Hazare-led civil society has drafted, is passed by parliament.

Hazare exhorted young people not to let this torch in the fight against corruption be put out – whether or not he’s still alive. He also sounded a warning to the government when he urged his followers and well-wishers to support his campaign with renewed vigour. ‘Countrymen should not lose this spirit. This is our fight against corruption. I have lost 3 kilograms, but I am getting energy from my supporters across the country,’ he said. ‘I have full faith in my country. This government has looted the country. We will now only sit in peace when the corruption gets removed from the country. Till Jan Lokpal Bill is passed, we will not leave Ramlila Maidan.’

The political top brass of the United Progressive Alliance government is now working out how to deal with Anna Hazare. There’s near unanimity that both the Congress Party and the government have failed miserably – first in gauging the nation’s mood on the issue of corruption, then calling him names (Congress spokesman Manish Tewari went as far as to say Hazare was corrupt ‘from tip to toe’). Sending him to jail for a week, only to backpedal a few hours later, was the final straw.

There are four possibilities on how this could play out. The first possibility for the government would be to send Hazare’s Jan Lokpal Bill to the parliament’s standing committee, a demand that has been put forth by Hazare himself and thus far ignored by the government. Second, the standing committee could itself invite Hazare to place his Jan Lokpal Bill before it. Third, the Jan Lokpal Bill could be floated in parliament as a private members bill. This possibility seems most likely, and the government doesn’t seem averse to this circuitous way of getting the bill into parliament. Indeed, there’s a strong possibility that the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party’s Varun Gandhi may bring the bill next week. The fourth possibility is the simplest and one that should have been obvious to the movers and shakers in the UPA government but wasn’t: give Hazare as much rope as he wants.

Whatever the government decides to do, one thing is clear: it will only try strong arm tactics against Team Anna if it wants to press the self-destruct button.

Its evidently clear that the government has dig its own grave by conducting themselves in an irresponsible manner, failing to read the minds of millions upsurging on streets. Peoples' angst is visibly evident on the manner in which the government has conducted itself in handling this crisis, and more so, the people are very much fed up on the issue of corruption. In the entire process, Anna is a catalyst and is seen as a torch-bearer to demonstrate public ire against the government in all fronts. As the learned eminent constitutional expert, Mr. Fali Nariman said, in an interview to a TV channel, "Constitution is the Supreme Authority, and not the parliament or parliamentarians (not in exact phrase) and the Constitution emphasizes and asserts the importance of "Voices of People", and therefore, it begins with the statement "We the People". Therefore, to break this impasse, the Government should immediately approach the team with open mind in order to save from tarnishing its own image in the public eye. Private Member's bill, as proposed by Varun Gandhi, to my mind is going to be a futile attempt. Government, at this juncture, has no other alternative but to withdraw the Bill from the Standing Committee and recommend to discuss the Jan Lokpal Bill as presented by the Anna's team. Then this bill can be discussed at length by the Parliament, incorporating valid suggestions from the MPs to save this internal war-like situation. Before this protest snowballs into violence in the hinterland, the Government should immediately take a strong political decision to come forward with open mind shunning their ego, if they are keen to protect the "parliamentary democracy" ! They are left with no other alternative but to succumb as they have already done more blunders and now they cannot afford to commit another one!

The Islamization of Eastern India - Assam, West Bengal et al.

Diagnosis is half the cure, but late diagnosis is a forecast of fatality. We don’t know which part applies to the issue of Bangladeshi infiltration. First, a classified report of Assam governor Ajai Singh to the union home ministry got leaked to the media (Assam govt. in crisis over governor’s report, The Tribune, Chandigarh, April 14, 2005). According to it, 6,000 Bangladeshis are daily infiltrating into Assam across the world’s most porous border. They are not only threatening the demographic character of Assam, but could facilitate bases for the ISI network and terrorist organisations like Al Qaeda.

Secondly, the infiltration issue also dominated the chief minister’s conference on April 15 in New Delhi. There was a chorus of complaints from the chief ministers of not only the eastern states of West Bengal, Meghalaya, Manipur, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram, but also a western state like Maharashtra. These states are feeling demographically threatened by the avalanche of infiltration from Bangladesh. Remarkably, none of these states is ruled by the BJP, which has been stigmatised by the "secularists" for highlighting this smouldering problem.

Any mention of Bangladeshi infiltration, like the higher reproductive rate of Indian Muslims, was considered hateful saffron propaganda. The home ministry recently had to do an incredible statistical makeover in Census 2001 to neutralise on paper a menace which is compounding on the ground. The UPA government, which reinforced the Illegal Migrants (Determination by Tribunal) Act, last year in Assam, will vainly try to sweep the infiltrators’ issue below the carpet. But alas, if only ignorance were bliss.

The chief ministers also expressed concern over the Pakistani ISI’s links with the infiltrators. This accompanying conspiratorial agenda can hardly be overlooked. Pakistani ISI, encouraged by the findings of Census 2001, has launched Operation "PIN Code," to bring the Northeast under Islamic umbrella through demographic invasion. Our neighbour Bangladesh, a country solidly under the thumb of the ISI, is heading towards Talibanisation. With a population bursting at the seams, it is the official policy of Bangladesh to offload it in parts on Indian soil. History is on their side.

From 1900 onwards, a wave of immigration began from the densely populated East Bengal (now Bangladesh), especially Mymensingh district (the most populous district of undivided India), into the Brahmaputra valley of Assam. The Muslim population of Assam province had increased by 109% between 1881 and 1931. As a result of such migrations, Sylhet, the second largest district of the province, both in area and population, became predominantly Muslim and was awarded to East Pakistan when the country was partitioned on communal lines. The Muslim League had claimed the whole of Assam for Pakistan. And Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed, who later became the President of India, had the plan for "Bang-e-Islam" i.e. the incorporation of Assam and West Bengal into East Pakistan through Muslim immigration. The "credit" for turning Barpeta district of Assam to a Muslim majority district through infiltration goes to him.

While they (read Islamic fundamentalists) have forgotten nothing, we have learnt nothing. That is why the Assamese establishment (Congress government) invited migrants from East Pakistan as rice cultivators. The faster natural growth of migrants put five districts of Assam in a state of jeopardy. The Assam agitation which emerged after the second reorganisation of Assam (1972), when it realised the full magnitude of the danger it was quite late in the day and it lost its direction. The IMDT was slapped in 1983 by an iniquitous Indira Gandhi government after the Congress swept the unpopular elections in Assam. The IMDT Act practically sealed Assam’s fate.

In 1999, the then Assam governor, Lt. Gen. (Retd) S.K. Sinha, now governor of J&K, had submitted a 42-page report on Assam’s demographic situation to President K.R. Narayanan. Lt. Gen. Sinha feared that the demographic aggression in Assam’s lower districts like Dhubri and Goalpara can prompt their merger with Bangladesh. In fact, in lower Assam, one could walk miles thinking it is Bangladesh, without meeting a single Indian. But Tarun Gogoi, the then Assam Congress chief demanded his recall because he had cast an "aspersion" on the loyalty and the commitment of the Muslims to the country.

But the same Tarun Gogoi, now chief minister of Assam, cowered like an invertebrate when Jamiat Maulana Asad Madani, the national president of Jamiat-e-Ulema-e-Hind, threatened him point blank to "overthrow" his government unless JUH’s demands like job reservation for Muslims and seats in the Lok Sabha and the Assembly were not met within six months.

According to a report in the Telegraph, Kolkata (April 4, 2005), "The Jamiat’s 18-point charter of demands includes reservation of jobs and seats for the minorities, based on the population pattern, in government departments and educational institutions… On illegal migration from Bangladesh to Assam, the organisation admitted it was a serious problem and suggested that a register of citizens be prepared with March 25, 1971, as the base year. It contended that there was nothing wrong with the Illegal Migrants (Determination by Tribunals) Act and it ought to be extended to other parts of the country." The design of the JUH is evidently not only on Assam but on the whole of India. JUH has also filed a petition in the Supreme Court for the retention and extension of IMDT.

But while Madani had at least paid some lip service against infiltration, Tarun Gogoi was so scared that he was not one of those seven chief ministers who raised the issue at the conference though his state suffers the most from it. But home truths are quite different and jazzy. The very same day the governor’s report got leaked to the media (albeit at a very few places) Tarun Gogoi’s own government made a startling submission.

The Telegraph (April 14, 2005) reports: "The Assam government today said in an affidavit to the Supreme Court that the ISI was active in the state and illegal Bangladeshi migrants were pouring in through West Bengal and Tripura. Gogoi and his Cabinet colleagues have assured the Assembly on several occasions that the ISI has no presence in the state. The affidavit, however, states just the opposite. ‘Taking advantage of the porous nature of the border between India and Bangladesh, there has been large-scale illegal migration from Bangladesh, and taking advantage of this situation, there has been an increase in the activities of various anti-national groups, including ISI, in Assam. The state government is keeping a close watch on the situation and taking appropriate action to ensure the safety, security and integrity of the nation’."

The affidavit was in response to a petition challenging the validity of the IMDT, which is now before a three-judge bench of Justice R.C. Lahoti, Justice G.P. Mathur and Justice P.K. Balasubramanyam.

The CPI(M) seems more concerned about West Bank in Palestine than West Bengal here. It has demanded the breaking off of military ties with Israel for its policy on occupied territories. Infiltration severely affects the two states ruled by the Marxists, West Bengal and Tripura. But no resolution was passed at its 18th Party Congress in Chandigarh on this issue unlike the one condemning Israel over its Palestine policy. But it has also not gone the whole hog against Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee unlike in 2002 (when he expressed concern over the proliferation of madrasas). So do they realise the magnitude of the problem? Even if the answer is in the affirmative, the situation has now gone beyond their control. But equally important is the voice of concern from Maharashtra. It proves that the problem of infiltration is not just Assam, West Bengal or Northeast’s problem but entire India’s. It hurts Delhi badly. But, sadly, we missed any reaction from the Delhi chief minister, who is now unfortunately caught up in a political eddy inside the Congress

India: Muslim mobs loot and ransack Hindu shops and Hindu temples, beat up Hindus, torch public buses

And the police did essentially nothing, confining the Hindus to their homes while the Muslim mobs continued to roam free.

"Debanga Burns - Hindu Temples Descecrated ; Hindu Markets Looted,"

September 6, 2010 : Today evening after Iftar, Muslims assembled in the Deganga Mosque (Basirhat SD, North 24 Parganas) and proceeded to a number of Hindu areas, looted and ransacked many Hindu shops and Hindu temples, severely beat up many Hindus, torched 4 public buses. The life of the whole stretch from Berachapa to Kadamgachi has been frozen.

Shani Temple of Kartickpur and Kali Temple of Deganga Biplabi Colony desecrated and ransacked by the rioting Muslims.

Arup Ghosh, Officer in Charge of Deganga police station is seriously injured by the rampaging Muslims. His head and hand have been fractured. Several other policemen also injured. Police had to fire to control the Muslim mob, but with no effect.

Today at 11 am, the dispute started when some fanatic Muslims started to dig the passage of a Durga Temple in Chattal Pally village which is situated just beside the Deganga Police Station. This Durga Temple is at least 25 year old. In past, Muslims tried many times to stop the Durgapuja. Hindus resisted their ill effort. This Chattal Pally and Deganga P.S. come under the district of North 24 Parganas, and its Parliamentary constituency is Basirhat. In 2009 election, Hazi Nurul Islam of T.M.C. won this constituency defeating long time Communist M.P. Ajay Chakraborty (C.P.I). After this change of power, Hindus of the whole area are facing all types of threat, humiliation, torture and their religious practices are in danger.

When Hindus objected the digging of the Temple passage, Muslims gathered there in large number and started mayhem. Hindus informed the police. Police came and they had to face the jihadi enthusiasm of the Muslims. Officer in Charge injured at that time. Then Muslims threatened that now Roja is going on. After the end of Roja and taking Iftar, they will teach stern lesson to the Hindus. So, after afternoon, Hindus dared not to open their shops on the stretch between Berachapa to Kadamgachhi on the Barasat - Basirhat Road. By this time, large contingent of police and RAF took position. Defying their presence, Muslims gathered in large number in the Deganga Mosque and started looting and destroying the Hindu shops, not in Chattal Pally, but in the big markets of Beliaghata, Deganga and Kartickpur. A big shop of Anil Bangal, a Hindu, has been looted fully among many other shops. Anil Bangal has been seriously injured. More than 25 people have been injured.

Latest position is that Police is not allowing the Hindus to come out of their homes so that they can enquire the damage done by the Muslims and Muslims are roaming freely in front of police force. Overall situation has been worsened. It is alleged that Maqbur Rehman, Mintu Sahaji led the Muslim rioters. It is also alleged that one TMC Hindu leader Ms. Ratna Chowdhury is trying to pressurize police not to take strong steps to stop the Muslim rampaging mob. The new TMC M.P. Hazi Nurul Islam allegedly influenced the police to remain inactive.

The Muslims are majority in number in the Deganga Block as well as in Basirhat Sub division of North 24 Parganas district. According to 2001 Census report, Muslims were 69.51 percent in Deganga Block. Naturally after nine years, their percentage increased a lot and Hindus in that Block are living a life almost like Pakistan. This North 24 Parganas district, is the largest border district where the highest number of Hindu refugees took shelter after being persecuted in erstwhile East Pakistan and present Bangladesh. In spite of that, the eight Blocks among total 29 of this districts became Muslim majority blocks in 2001 census.

Today's violence in Deganga has been reported only in the NE Bangla channel of electronic media of West Bengal. All other channels including Star Anand, as always they do, are mum and suppressing the misdeeds of the fanatic Muslims.

Burning Shame of Hindutva, Burning an european alive! - Part 1

The gruesome murder of an Australian missionary and his two sons in Orissa shocks the nation--and rattles the BJP-led government at the Centre.

By Ruben Banerjee, India Today

Even in death they were inseparable. Charred beyond recognition and reduced to fragile frames of ashes, the three bodies lay clinging to each other in what must have been a vain attempt to protect each other and escape the mob. But on the fateful night of January 22-23 in the wilderness of Manoharpur village in the sleepy rural outback of Orissa's Keonjhar district, nothing worked for the hapless father and his two sons. Having surrounded them from all sides, a murderous crowd set on fire the old four-wheel drive Willy's station wagon in which the three had retired for the night.

The beastly act done, Australian-born Christian missionary Graham Stewart Staines, 58, and his two sons, Phillip, 10, and Timothy, 7, were put to sleep forever. No sooner had its macabre mission been completed than the mob melted away in the darkness as the flames that had leapt skywards simmered. But the heat generated by the senseless killings and the outrage stoked are far from ebbing days after the incident.

With the campaign against Christians, so far confined to Gujarat, making its ugliest appearance in Orissa, the nation went numb with horror. Even as Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee hung his head in shame, his Government was rattled by the wave of condemnation. President K.R. Narayanan spoke for everyone when he described the murder as "a monumental aberration of time-tested tolerance and harmony. The killings belong to the world's inventory of black deeds". Confronted with the charge that the Bajrang Dal -- a militant Hindu outfit attached to the VHP and with links to the RSS -- was guilty of the horrific murder, the prime minister despatched a three-member cabinet team to Manoharpur and announced a judicial inquiry headed by a Supreme Court judge.

For the past 35 years, dressed in casuals, sporting his trademark hat and wheeling his rickety bicycle, Saibo -- as he was popularly called -- was a fixture in Baripada where he did "God's work", tending and nursing leprosy patients in a specially run home on the town's outskirts.

Born in Brisbane, as a young boy the Australian became a pen friend of one Santanu Satpathy of Baripada with whom he shared his birthday. The long-distance friendship bloomed and Staines visited Baripada to call on his friend. That was in 1965 and he never returned. Besides the idyllic landscape of the region, what touched him was the Leprosy Home run since the last century with help from the Leprosy Mission of Australia. Having barely finished school, Staines finally found his mission in life. He devoted himself to the Home -- eventually becoming its superintendent -- and also immersed himself in preaching the Bible by virtue of also being the convener and treasurer of the Evangelical Missionaries Society.

His dedicated service won him many hearts. Fluent in Oriya and the local Santhali dialect, Staines and his wife Glades, whom he married in the '80s, were pillars of the local society. Three years ago, a devastating fire in Baripada left at least a 100 dead and scores horribly burnt. The local hospital failed to cope and the Staines couple -- Glades is a trained nurse -- spent nights nursing the injured. Elected president-designate of the local Rotary chapter for 2001, Staines was a leading light in last month's Pulse Polio immunisation drive. He distributed leaflets enthusiastically while Glades drove the jeep that led the procession for creating awareness in Baripada.

Islamik Terrorist Violence against Kashmiri Pandits in Kashmir

    * Terrorism in Kashmir is an ideological struggle with specified political commitments which are fundamentalist and communal in character.
    * Terrorist violence is aimed at achieving the disengagement of the state of Jammu and Kashmir from India and its annexation to Pakistan. It is, the continuation of the Islamic fundamentalist struggle for the homeland of Pakistan which claims Jammu and Kashmir state on account of its Muslim majority character.
    * The major dimension of the terrorist violence in Kashmir is the terrorists' commitment to the extermination and subjugation of the Hindus in the state because Hindus do not subscribe to the idea of separation from India, nor do they expect to be governed by the authority of the state which derives its sanction from the law and precedent of Islam. Kashmiri Pandits (Hindus) have always been in the forefront of the struggle against secessionism, communalism and fundamentalism. Hence this peace loving minority with a modern outlook became the main victim of terrorist violence. The strategies involved in the terrorists' operation against the Hindus in Kashmir include:
          o The extermination of Hindus
o Subjecting Hindus to brutal torture to instill fear among them in order to achieve their submission.
o To engineer a forced mass exodus of Hindus from the land of their ancestors and birth by way of issuing threatening letters, kidnappings and torture deaths on non-compllance of the terrorists' dictates and ensure the destruction of the secular and pluralistic character of the socio-political fabric of the Kashmiri Society.
o Attacks, molestations, kidnappings, gang rapes of the women folk of the Hindus in order to instil fear and humiliation in them.
o Destruction and burning of the residential houses of the Hindus who leave their homes in look out for safety. Looting of their properties and appropriation of their business establishments to ensure that they do not return.
o Attachment of their landed property.
o Destruction of the social base of the Hindus by the desecration and destruction of their places of worship.
o Appropriation of the property of the Hindu shrines and its attachment to Muslim religious endowments.

Hindu Holocaust Memorial Museum for Hindus Massacred by Islamic Terrorism, Unparalleled in History

The contemporary French writer François Gautier has said, “The massacres perpetuated by Muslims in India are unparalleled in history, bigger than the Holocaust of the Jews by the Nazis; or the massacre of the Armenians by the Turks; more extensive even than the slaughter of the South American native populations by the invading Spanish and Portuguese.”

Bomb blast by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti

Sourcehttp://www.expressindia.com/latest-news/two-held-for-blast-in-thane-bomb-in-vashi/323787/

The state Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) on Monday made its first major breakthrough in the two cases of crude bombs planted at auditoriums in Navi Mumbai and Thane recently, with the arrest of two men claiming affiliation to an organisation called the Hindu Janjagruti Samiti.

According to the ATS, the two were also involved in a minor explosion at a Panvel cinema hall screening the film Jodhaa Akbar in February this year. The two claim to have planted the explosives on their own and not at the behest of any organisation.

According to the ATS, the duo claim their attacks were planned in retaliation to the screenings of the movie Jodhaa Akbar and the Marathi play Aamhi Panchpute, as they felt these caricaturised Hindu deities and insulted Hindu sentiments. The Hindu Janjagruti Samiti had earlier staged protests against the screening of the movie and the producer of the play.

The arrested accused are Ramesh Hanumant Gadkari (50) and Mangesh Dinkar Nikam (34). They were picked up by the ATS early on Monday from New Panvel and remanded to police custody till June 24.

“They have been arrested in connection with the crude bomb planted at Vishnudas Bhave auditorium in Vashi on May 31, and the bomb that exploded at Gadkari Rangayatan auditorium in Thane on June 4. They have been booked under the Indian Penal Code for attempt to murder, voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous means, and voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous means, and under the Explosives Substances Act. ... we have evidence that they are also involved in the small explosion that took place in a theatre screening Jodhaa Akbar at Panvel on February 20,” said Joint Commissioner of Police (ATS) Hemant Karkare.

“They have told us that they are full-time members of the Hindu Jangruti Samiti and the Sanatan Sanstha. However, we have not recovered any documents to prove their membership. They claim that they did not act on orders from any organisation. However, we are probing the possible involvement of the organisation. Office bearers have been questioned and more arrests are likely,” said Karkare.

Following the arrests, the Mumbai coordinator of the Hindu Janjagruti Samiti, Uday Dhuri, insisted that the organization was not involved.

“Gadkari was not instigated to react this way by us. It was on his own that the idea occurred to him because of the portrayal of the Mahabharat in the play, and even when the police came to find him, we helped them,” said Dhuri. He added that though there are people having associations with both, the Sanathan Sanstha is independent of the Hindu Janjagruti Samiti.

The duo told the ATS that a combination of ammonium nitrate and gelatin sticks had been planted by them in all three cases. According to the ATS, Nikam was arrested in February 2006 in Ratnagiri, for allegedly throwing country-made bombs at the residence of a man who was believed to be conducting Christian rituals there.

The two accused operated from the Sanatan Sankul Ashram in Devegaon area of Panvel, where the bomb was assembled. Gadkari is a diploma holder in electrical engineering and was the one who prepared the circuit, while Nikam helped with sourcing the explosives, said police.

1. I always download all the comments of Rajiv Sharma, Suryanarayan Murthy & Team, so they shouldn't try to Show themselves as Gentleman, Educated, Literate or Smart.....etc, I can Produce their comments, whenever required... so ask them not to act SMART before me.

@ Mr. Murthy , u will agree that supporting BJP or Congress and starting debates on that is another thing , and targeting toostep member and starting topics like "vogue spammer ... " etc is totally different , people with Congress have tendency to assume that they r on the right side of so called secularism (?) , but that does not gives u liberty to starting personnel debate topics and making fun of someone in that , by what i have seen in those topics i think Mr. Khaitan is very humble person , he might have his ideas about BJP, Congress etc , but he has not answered personnel attacks by same low level attack like Education Background etc , infact i see he has tried to neglect these things but ur team members have kept repeating those negative remarks again and again ,

Mr. Khaitan's toostep account was deleted again ,this is happening for more than one month and its highly probable that this thing is happening because topic started by ur friends "vague spammer .. " etc came in purview of Toostep Admin , also it is possible due to abuse reporting , so if any of the members of these debate are involved in this , they should forsake this double tongued behavior , and should be able to answer argument by counter argument and not through personnel attack ,

Srinivas ji, What is Your Opinion about Mr Rajeev Sharma - Just Read Below

1. "There are some insane people on this site. I have dealt with two of them earlier. This post is to deal a firm blow to the third mad man -- Ajay Kumar Khaitan. I thought this venomous snake will shed his venon one day, but he hasn't and won't. Ever. There is a

2. "What are your credentials Ajay Kumar Khaitan? A liar who lies about hiseducation! A cheat who has multiple profiles and multiple accounts (including toostep) with varying information! A megalomaniac (check the dictionary to know what this word means)who boats about his son being chased by 20-25 companies with package having more zeroes than you can count! A habitual abuser who has been pouring vitriol (again check the dictionary) on toostep leading lights! A mentally unstable person who talks of death when his posts are being torn apart by the majority! A man fit for mental asylum who brags of being a world record holder on God knows what! If you require medical help, I will foot your bills provided you promise that the you will stop shooting off your

semi-literate "world record holder" like you. And who are you to blame others for being abusive when you yourself started it -- Ajay Kumar (S)haitan, Ph.D. from University of Abuses; Post Graduate from Institute of Lies and Frauds! Give specific answers you moron."

5. "You are right Munshiji. Duds like Ajay Kumar Khaitan will never understand this. Because these Shaitans have political aspirations -- only to loot the nation while raising the bogey of corruption. This BJP agent does not know that the BJP will continue to use him, suck him dry, but will never reward him."

Most Democratic Party called BJP

Sourcehttp://indiatoday.intoday.in/site/story/bjp-big-guns-likely-to-fire-at-each-other-in-battlefield-up/1/143824.html

Anxious to prove his mettle as the BJP president, Nitin Gadkari has marshalled many a senior leader in Uttar Pradesh with a view to regaining the lost ground ahead of next year's elections.

Kalraj Mishra.
State unit chief Surya Pratap Shahi has been travelling extensively to attract upper caste votes, but Gadkari appointed party vice-president Kalraj Mishra as in-charge of the Uttar Pradesh affairs. Later, he reinducted Uma Bharti to rejuvenate the party in the state. His latest move to rope in former BJP chief Rajnath Singh for overall supervision has raised some eyebrows.

Though the state party leaders are keeping silent for now, Gadkari apparently doesn't understand that bringing these adversaries together would do the party more harm than good. It could be used as battleground for settling personal scores rather than a stage for performing in tandem and winning the assembly elections in style.

Rajnath Singh.
Rajnath has claimed that his appointment wouldn't lead to groupism or create any confusion in the poll-bound state. Rajnath said, "UP is my home state and I should have the authority to work for the party in the elections. Why are people questioning my appointment?" Earlier, both Kalraj and Bharti had made similar noises, claiming that they were working towards the same goal and there was no friction.

But those reading between the lines know that the situation is far from what it appears to be.

"Rajnath didn't even tolerate L.K. Advani, let alone Kalraj and Uma, between himself and power. At the party's national executive in Lucknow on December 24, 2006, he couldn't hide his prime ministerial ambitions when Advani was generally believed to be the PM-in-waiting," a senior party leader said.

"Kalraj and Rajnath are the opposites of each other. In the early 90s, they had their own set of followers who used to conspire against each other. Their supporters are already fighting over who would become the CM if the BJP wins. Uma is honest but an egoist. The presence of so many leaders will only destroy our prospects in the state," he added.

Gadkari has also appointed Narendra Singh Tomar as the state in-charge. Samanand Singh and Karuna Shukla are already frequenting UP these days in their capacity as the party's "co-incharge" of the state.

In 2009, the BJP had fielded 71 candidates on the 80 Lok Sabha seats and 33 of them lost even the security deposit. The party could win only 10 seats and ended up as the runners-up on 11 seats.

State BJP's former president Ramapati Ram Tripathi said, "Our overall vote share had increased from 17.50 in 2004 to 22.17 in 2009. I don't deny there was some problem with our planning. The Congress and the SP succeeded in convincing the voters that we were non-secular."

Of course, he didn't mention that the number of BJP's seats tumbled from 88 in 2002 to 50 in the 2007 assembly elections and its vote share fell from 21 per cent to 17 per cent.

The obvious reason was that the many power centres in the state confused the cadre and the voters alike.

History of tussle

The Thakur-Brahmin angle to the rivalry goes back a long way

Kalraj Mishra and supporters have been nursing the grouse ever since the then minister's claim was overlooked to appoint Rajnath as the CM

The move to send Rajnath for 'Mission UP' is being seen as an attempt to curtail Mishra's freedom in ticket distribution.

Mr Vinoy,
Thanks a ton for your wise words. In fact, if you notice I have already implemented this strategy since last week. I don't burden my inbox with Khaitan mails and delete them immediately without even bothering to read them. I don't even want to comment on him now. The less said the better. I will give you a quotable quote in this context: NEVER ARGUE WITH AN IDIOT. FIRST HE WILL BRING YOU TO HIS LEVEL AND THEN BEAT YOU WITH HIS EXPERIENCE.

Mr. Rajeev! You are making a mountain of a molehill. People like Shaithan......oops Khaitan thrive in this atmosphere. Just ignore him and you will see the difference. Just don't even read his postings. I have not seen his cv and thus cannot comment on his lies, etc.... But sure he has a lot of complexes including not knowing reasonable English. Leave him alone with his Englishman coat. Probably he will realize he will have to work on himself and not spread false propaganda against others. Meanwhile don't retaliate as its spreads ill will in the forum. we got to maintain our dignity.

And Mr. Khaithan, please see reason and stop vitiating the atmosphere in the forum with your mis-timed, ill-placed childish comments. We need you too come forward with your comments in a dignified manner. Your comments will only add to the value of the forum if you temper your language and put forward logical arguments. Otherwise you will largely be of Nuisance value to the forum. No one will take you seriously and you will be zero in credibility.

Think about it. Dreaming of a day when we can all use Too-step as a dignified forum to launch our views.

FIR against BJP CM and Family Members

Source:TNN

BANGALORE: Lokayukta police on Monday registered a First Information Report (FIR) against former CM B S Yeddyurappa, his two sons and son-in-law, charging them with corruption in a mining deal.

Yeddyurappa, his sons B Y Raghavendra, MP, and B Y Vijayendra, and son-in-law R N Sohan Kumar have been booked under sections 7, 8, 9, 13(1) D, and 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. Yeddyurappa figures as the accused number 1, followed by his sons and son-in-law. Lokayukta SP Vidyasagar is the investigating officer.

In his report on July 27, then Lokayukta Justice Santosh N Hegde had recommended to the governor to initiate criminal proceedings against Yeddyurappa. The governor had written to the Lokayukta to initiate action. Meanwhile, Yeddyurappa has approached the Karnataka high court seeking quashing of Lokayukta's recommendations against him. The case is pending before the court.

According to the findings, South West Mining Company, a subsidiary of Jindal, had donated Rs 10 crore to the Prerana Education Society owned by Yeddyurappa's family members and Jindal Steels purchased one acre from Yeddyurappa's family members in Bangalore for Rs 20 crore, though the guidance value fixed for the land by the government was Rs 1.40 crore.

Will Yeddyurappa and family members be arrested? "It depends on the circumstances. After scrutinizing the documents and evidence, the investigation officer will take a decision,'' said Lokayukta ADGP Jeevan Kumar Gaonkar.

Punjab BJP MLA Khurana arrested in Bribe Case

BJP MLA Raj Khurana in Punjab was arrested by the CBI for allegedly taking bribe. His house was raided on Wednesday night. He was sent to CBI custody for two days. The incident came to light when the CBI team led by DIG Mahesh Aggarwal raided the residence of Khurana in Sector 39 in Chandigarh on Wednesday night and also questioned a government employee Devinder Singh, who is also the Chief Parliamentary Secretary (Finance) in the Parkash Singh Badal-led SAD-BJP alliance government. In fact, Devinder had allegedly demanded money on behalf of Khurana to offer it to a Punjab minister for some official work. However, the CBI has not found any incriminating document from Khurana's residence.

Khurana represents Rajpura constituency. Both Khurana and Devinder were arrested under Prevention of Corruption Act. The case came few days after Sohan Singh Thandal, Chief Parliamentary Secretary (CPS) in the SAD-BJP alliance, was sentenced by the Mohali Court for having disproportionate assets.

Former Infosys CEO and chairperson of the Unique ID project Nandan Nilekani has criticised the Anna Hazare-led campaign as a “naïve” way to tackle corruption, and suggests that a Lokpal Bill can be only one of many instruments to combat corruption.

In an interview to CNN-IBN’s Sagarika Ghose, Nilakeni said that tackling corruption needed to be done in a “more holistic and strategic manner.”

Nandan Nilakeni says a Lokpal Bill is no magic bullet to end corruption.

The Jan Lokpal Bill is “absolutely not” a magic wand against corruption, Nilekani said emphatically. “I don’t know who is drinking this Kool-Aid. The notion that you pass some magical bill and corruption will go away is simplistic… That’s certainly not the way you should be thinking about this issue. “

“Áll of us want to do things to eliminate corruption in society and I fully sympathise with that motive and that frustration that people feel about corruption… But if you are going to do something about corruption, we have to do it in a much more broad-based manner in which this Lokpal Bill becomes one of many things.”

Nilekani stressed that he wasn’t saying there isn’t a need for a Lokpal Bill. “I’m just saying that a bill where you create a whole police infrastructure to eliminate corruption – without looking at the whole broad set of issues and fundamentally changing the way we deliver public services… That’s focussing on a very small part of the overall problem.”

“I’m very much for removing corruption, but the statement that this is the only way to do it to the exclusion of all other things is very, very impractical,” he added.

Indian-Americans come out in support of Anna Hazare

WASHINGTON: Coming out in support of Anna Hazare, Indian-Americans have appealed to the Indian government to take serious steps to curb the menace of corruption in the country.

"We NRIs want to remove corruption out of India. We support Anna Hazare's efforts to eradicate the corruption, pass Lokpal Bill and declare black money as national assets," said Dnyanoba Kendre, a yoga teacher from Pennsylvania.

Of all the protests in India in recent times, this is the most legitimate and at the grass root-level, that can change the fate of the country, said Rangarajan, a student from the University of Maryland.

Now it seems exaggeration of everything starting from the demands of civil society which lead to the loss of democracy then the overwhelming unexpected support which this person got by tickling the very public unrest against a particular issue which was the hottest cake to sell just after the publication of scams, congress attitude towards this man, and the media coverage and support.
Everything is just exaggerated and it's now the best time to return homes to those who are doing unproductive work at Ramleela Maidaan and start doing productive output oriented works just to waste the government revenue no more.

Now - Anna is burning....

Notwithstanding Anna Hazare's demands for passage of Lokpal Bill by August-end, a Parliamentary Committee examining the matter Saturday made it clear the deadline cannot be met because of procedures as part of which views of public were sought by September 3.

Abhishek Singhvi, Chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Law and Justice and Personnel, insisted a certain procedure has to be followed which will take time.

"If we follow the detailed procedure as laid in the tradition and complete the job by August 31 and present the Bill, you will make fun of our Committee and say that you did work without seriously applying your mind," he told a press conference in Delhi.

"The Committee has invited views of diverse stakeholders. It will take them up clause by clause to take ideal elements of each proposal and try to create the best and strongest Bill," he added.

At the same time, Singhvi said it was for the government to take decision on the fate of the bill.

Contending the Committee was "open to all options and views", he said, "Every aspect process, input, draft, suggestion and consequence is completely open...No one should have any doubt that the Committee is having any kind of pre-judgement on any issue. We are at the beginning, not the end of the process."

Earlier in the day, an advertisement given by the Committee appeared in newspapers on Saturday, seeking suggestions from public on the Bill within 15 days.

The advertisement outlined salient features of the Bill and asking people to send their opinions and suggestions.

While 15 days is the standard time given by Parliamentary panels to people or organisations to send feedback on bills, the time-frame in this case makes it clear that the August-end deadline set by Hazare for passing the Lokpal Bill will not be met.

Soon after the bill was introduced in Lok Sabha on August 4, Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari referred it to the Committee and gave it three months to give recommendations.

Soon after the bill was referred to it, the Committee had invited team Hazare to place its views before the panel. The Hazare team appeared before the Committee later.

Home Minister P Chidambaram recently said Hazare was free to give his views to the panel once again.

Reacting to the newspaper advertisement, Hazare`s associate Arvind Kejriwal said it appeared to be an exercise which will waste the time of people and Parliamentarians.

"We appeared before the Standing Committee earlier and told them that the present bill is actually for promotion of corruption and save the corrupt people," he said.

But when someone attacks me personally and calls me a yellow journalist or a corrupt journalist -- as one person has on this site and everyone knows who it is -- my retaliation will be sure-shot and Cobra-like. As far as your criticism is concerned, it is always constructive. You would have noticed that I seldom comment on comments on my postings. My comments about you Srinivas Ji are also applicable to all my learned colleagues here -- Ms-PI, Mr Murthy, Mr Ardhendu, Mr Muralidharan, Mr Ardhendu, Mr Munshi, Mr Rohit and all those who believe in constructive criticism. In Gujarat you are killed if you fight for justice ...

Posted On Saturday, August 20, 2011 at 02:34:56 AM Ahmedabadmirror

Even as people back Anna Hazare demanding a corruption-free India, one man quietly but determinedly filed a public interest litigation seeking appointment of a lokayukta in Gujarat. His anguish and agony is understandable. His young son was murdered sometime back opposite Gujarat High Court because he was using his right to seek information against the rich, powerful and politically connected mining mafia. Bhikhubhai Jethava, father of slain RTI activist Amit Jethava, says Gujarat is an unsafe place for all those who fight for their rights. “

Excerpts from an interview:

What made you file the PIL demanding a lokayukta?

My son had filed a PIL in 2008. There already is a law in Gujarat but the state government is deliberately not appointing a lokayukta. When my son filed the PIL, the state government assured Gujarat High Court of appointing lokayukta “immediately”. It didn’t happen. Hence this PIL.

What would you achieve by filing this PIL?

I feel pained. Everybody is carried away by the hype that Gujarat is vibrant. My son was fighting for justice. He was fighting against corruption and politicians. There are two reasons for filing this PIL: to continue my son’s fight against corruption and politicians, and to support the movement started by Anna Hazare. I have spoken to Anna several times on the issue.

How will lokayukta benefit the state?

What is the other way left in Gujarat at the moment to seek justice? Those who raise their voice against falsehood, injustice or corruption are eliminated. From Haren Pandya to Amit Jethava. What is the action taken against corruption and injustice under the Narendra Modi government? The institution of lokayukta is the only recourse left for common people like us to get justice and to fight against powerful politicians and corruption. Once lokayukta is in place, believe me, several ministers will be behind bars. Today, corruption has crossed its limits in Gujarat.

People can know where their leaders stand once lokayukta is in place. Until now, all of us thought Karnataka government was good. So much development and international investment has come to Bangaluru. But look what (BS) Yeddyurappa had done there. Worse things are happening in Gujarat but no action is being taken against those responsible. Lokayukta is Gujarat’s only hope to know the reality.

Have you received any threat?

I will be murdered. Isn’t that what happens in Gujarat when you fight for justice? What happened to Haren Pandya? It was a political murder. What happened to my son? Specially after this petition, my life is in danger.

How can you say there is corruption in Gujarat? The state is known for clean governance.

Corruption in Gujarat is different. Gujarat has traditionally been very progressive and rich. Right now corruption that exists in Gujarat is not only different from that in other states but dangerous. We are a border state. Still our government is sheltering and doling out land to industrialists who have been sent to jail for extortion or custom evasion.

My son was fighting to stop illegal limestone quarries. He had openly named BJP MP Dinu Bogha Solanki. He had proof. Still what happened? My son was murdered. Haren Pandya deposed before a people’s tribunal about Narendra Modi’s complicity in the genocide, that he was responsible for the death of hundreds of innocent people in 2002 riots. What happened? Modi became number one and Harenbhai was killed. This is Gujarat. It is sad that in Gandhi’s Gujarat we blindly support Anna but are ignoring corrupt and criminal politicians.

Rajeev ji thank you very much for the insight. I might have contradicted your views on Anna and his campaign against corruption. Nothing personal about it. I thank you for a balanced insight for the first time on this subject. The Govt. failed to weigh the public mood and made many strategic mistakes. This is the high time for the Govt. to think twice to handle this surcharged situation. Govt. itself invited this problem and made Anna a Hero.
