Are we Conscious?

Chitra Banerjee wrote something on aesthetics today where she describes a male acting vulgarly at the Airports. This is  a regular seen though not a replica but similar ones in all government and other offices and places for transactions like small shops of older version. I thought on this phenomenon with Psychology as the scale and came to the conclusion that people who resort to such vulgar acts are ‘unconscious’. Naturally I am not the first person to discover this. Marx in his treatise ‘Capital’ describes this phenomenon as ‘alienation’ or ‘estrangement’, where ones spirit gets diminished. Psychology calls this the Unconscious state. In unconscious state one has no fear or inhibition to act laborly.

Western countries finds a solution to this, they resort to ‘welfare practices’. They have a whole gamut of theory in Economics called Welfareecnomics where its theories provide transactions, processes, living standards, economic infrastructure etc; to welfare standards. This prevents the errors committed due to ‘unconscious acts’ don’t manifest in society thus preventing degeneration of economy or humans. A labourer coming out of work is made conscious by the well designed welfare environment around him and he can be conscious outside work.

In India the story is contradictory, we have no idea about welfare theories or the reason why it is provided the consequence being our labourers and citizen has to go home unconscious, travel unconscious and whole lot of trouble like the one described by Chitra. Laborers resort ot drinking to regenerate consciousness after a days labor.

The cause for non-democratic behavior and too much erros in society, in everything is because of lack of welfare which drives citizen to unconscious state when they tend to do wrong things and chaos results.

Good insight Mr. Mathew. The percentage of marginalized people far exceeds the middle and rich class in the society in India. Why can't we look the other way around. You look at the pathetic living condition of slum-dwellers. The way they are, so is their behaviour! Do we really allow them to shift their paradigm? As we grow richer, "baring body", "dining and wining in open", "all obscene acts in open", "barbaric acts in open" are part of western culture and they look alright to the civilized society!

Mr. Muralidharan, it is not only the slit and dirt that is the sex symbols that bombards a walker on such environment, there are artificial symbols like flowers and all sorts of things used in the environment prollieferated in the Indian environment symbolising human genetils and intercourse which evokes libidic energy/ People do it unknowingly a custom passed on to them and no body wonders the energy requirements it generates on them or the harm it cause to ones psyche which can result in economic disaster for the nation to fee all these kids born who cannot be taken care off by the resources of the economy. Thanks.

You mean to say the common citizen of western rich countries behave like poor people of this country. I think it is not entirely true but to some extent in warmer places like Florida and California there is more bearing of their bodies than in the rest of the 51 colder places in US. Europe too is cold in more places. Then when they come to India they do probably so to identify with the general nature of our poor people thinking we will appreciate it. Also, people from such places may not be rich enough as one thinks they may be poor people of that country who are like poor people of this country.
The point I am trying to make is when one is 'unconscious' one tend to make more mistakes and fall prey to mental disorders which most of our citizen are due to the lack of welfare conditions.
The other day I was reading about the Freudian explanation of symbols. Dirt and filth represent symbolically 'coitus' or intercourse. A person walking through such an environment is bombarded with these symbols and it can cause libidic energy to be active and too much exposure to filth and dirt will force one to quench or satisfy this sex energy. This is why population is a rampant problem here and welfare environment can reduce the population explosion which is becoming a nemesis to run the economy.
We have to catch the tiger by the tail. Solving population problem require such a strategy indirect and decisive. If one is given welfare environment along with condoms and other birth control devices the solution will be decisive otherwise the solution is degenerate. Condoms and family planning alone won't do. Benefits accruing from welfare far outweigh the costs.
