When at work you will have seen one of your co-workers at work - superseding. What is superseding? Well it is replacing some other person with regards to authority and power. Superseding is done by one person to another and at times with aide from a third person [s]. It is usually the case when the executive goes to his / her super boss rather than the immediate boss. Super boss is the senior of the immediate boss.

Superseding is an amazing ego boost for the person who gains the authority and the one giving stands to be in good books with the person. Ofcouse it ends up being stress for the person who looses the authority.

I just saw a person who is obeying his boss. The boss is telling him what to do or what not to do. however he know his boss is not right in the case. also he listen from the collegue because his boss like his collegue. his collegue want to be boss and he has guts but dont want all this. he want to do his work efficiently. one day his collegue became his boss. now he reported to his Sr. manager that there was mistakes in work of previous boss and so his collegue is doing. now he is the boss of his collegue. So i want to say every one is doing this. however the cause and way is different. We all want success. The ways can be different.

Madam , i have not faced yet but i have seen in organization that superseding. Especially this is happen between middle heirarchy at junior - senior managerial level. Normally it can say that "Politics" in organization. Thanks for referal madam

Superseding happens in a close knitted organisation!  In a professional environment it is viewed as trespassing!  Most of the time, the sub-ordinates generate better solution in a crisis situation, but ignored!  In order to save the organisation, the sub-ordinates at times supersede line of authority, that is fine so long as it benefits the organisation.  On the contrary, controversy stems from the fact that the immediate superior considers it as an ego issue, then the nightmare the sub-ordinate faces for such act is really untenable, forcing the sub-ordinates take an extreme step!
