Hi Prithvi thanks for sharing your opinion. While you are correct the concept of Freelance is interpreted by various people in different ways. At the end of the day if one is to do a career as you have rightly shared it can be via employment to another company or self-employed. One cannot be jack of all and master of none. Freelance in many countries is not as yet regarded as creditable perhaps due to the challenge itself that one tends to take of many things for survival [which is the need of the hour]. However Branding is what comes over a period of time and Branding need not be to a 'thing' it is related to humans as well.

Having said this ofcourse the Freelance professional needs to maintain integrity and maintain their focus. One cannot aspire to be the jack of all and master of none. It will not hold good. I totally agree with you madam..in todays world where for every job there is cut-throat competition to standout among people you need to brand yourself...............but it is easier said than done........one needs lot of patience,hardwork and consistency for it .

A good article in deed.  As Mr. Virag and Muralidharan observed its not an easy task for an individual to create his own brand in any area.  Comparatively it is somewhat easy to get that branding in service sector where the quality of service counts, but it somewhat difficult in product arena even at a segment level.  Freelancer may get diverted with the lucrative packages outside.  Freelancing can be compared with a distance education.  He may lack the seriousness in both the areas.  
But, it is a challenging and prestigious for an individual if he/she gets the success.

Thanks Muralidharan - I would agree with you that for mere survival itself one will have to look at more avenues. However whatever be the avenue one will find it difficult to settle on a focus as you have rightly shared - this is the challenge.

Thanks Joydeep for referral. Freelance persons, in my view, sidetracks from focus if lured with some opportunity in areas other than his core competence. After all, for survival, he has to do that.  Building brand, as Joydeep referred, should be purely based on "zero-error products or services"!  In the volatile market situation, freelancers have difficulty in "keeping the flocks together"!  If a person is solely dependent upon his own expertise to deliver quality service, he would do everything to maintain it.  If the products and services are offered based on collective initiative, he is bound to fail, for one reason or the other!  In an environment, even the branded corporates are finding difficult to keep their team intact to deliver quality service!

Thanks joydeep for your quality referrals ,As a freelancer one can maintain their image& brand by providing consistent quality and timely services ,You can also win few brownie points by being available for your clientele cause as a freelancer you decide your own timings. 
Another USP which a freelancer had is discretion to do a bit additional work as well as give discounts or complimentary goodies which are cost effective yet differentiates you from others and is your recall value in your clientele eyes 
Today’s customer really wants to be treated like king and you can through your expertise and reliability can make them feels so which will definitely increase in business and referrals

Pervara ! Your suggestion is impressive but dont you think that same is directed towards career building and also when you say Synonymous, does it not result in Branding. I am of the view that Free lance it self indicates the scope as unlimited and call it galloping.

To create a unique perception of quality for service or product i.e. a zero error product or service, for this customer expectation has to be set, which requires a guided focused conversation to be carried about in the organization and to the customers (Marketing).

When one is a freelancer or proprietor he / she has limited control of external conversation so I feel one has to rely on his her uniqueness of product service and its delivery etc.

Yes madam i observed that in todays time each and every company not only big but also small/very small are interested in branding and taking care of their brand. They are develop product as brand at local or domestic level. So either person is doing job, freelance or owner of company , everybody are understand more closely about brand.

I would like to share some reason like (1) Due to competitive scenario, company or person try to aware their brand between mass people.

(2) Person or company try to become differentiate themselves and they want to see different among the 100 person or company.

(3) People are understanding and focus on creative things or innovative things for establish their brand.
