A powerful bomb ripped apart a passenger train late Sunday in India's restive northeastern state of Assam. Though no militant group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack. The explosion took place when the Guwahati-Puri Express was nearing Ghograpara in western Assam's Nalbari distict, about 70 km from Assam's main city of Guwahati. The blast took place around 8.30 pm. Four coaches of the train were derailed leaving many passengers seriously injured

. There was a loud explosion and it was total chaos soon after.

The critically injured were shifted to the Gauhati Medical College Hospital.

Meanwhile, all incoming and outgoing trains to Assam have been suspended following the blast.

First we saw a derailment due to lack well equipped trains and now due to other reason. It makes us feel that nothing and no one is safe anywhere. Anything can hapen anytime , isn't it?

The country witnessed a couple of incidents on the same day, one involving speedy train heading to Kalka in the UP, and the other in Rangiya junction, close to Bhutan Border, due to huge explosion shook the train, derailing four bogies and injuring 100, as a result. Only two terror-outfits are in full-swing operation in the belt, i.e., United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA) and National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB). The most unfortunate thing was the Minister of State for Railways, Mukul Roy, failed to visit both the accident spots, who had to be directed by the PM to visit Rangiya! How callous and irresponsible ministers we have who have no concern on passengers' well-being?

Nation is engrossed in Scam, Corruption, Black money. Terrorist takes advantage of this lull period. Gives another opportunity to media & opposition to talk only about the Govt. but doing nothing. This is India.

Thanks,Kavitha for referral.I do think , we should be optimistic. There is possibility of sabotage in every mode of transport. The misguided, disgruntled people can risk lives of innocents.Railways can not do much in such a situation excepting immediate relief operations. However, refusal of Mukul Roy MOS Railways was really in bad test.

Its really unfortunate that we are governed by the shameless peoples and ruled by the irresponsible peoples. There is no issue in which politics is not involved and not enjoying the outcomes. "Chour chour mousere bhai" They are all same and shame on their parts. We have seen so many incidents in which they have proved all things said above. But I will held public responsible for this because they use to show their faith in this type of people only.

It is unfortunate. The MOS of Railways says I am 1000 miles away in my home how can I come it is PM who is looking after the Railways. Very unfortunate. The lives of ordinary citizens like us actually do not matter to those dirty politicians. This with reference to Kalka Mail derailment.

Regarding Assam blast it is unfortunate but there was no casualty. Do the government take care for safety of passengers actually not they are busy making their own money. This is possible in India only. Once such minister is being sent to jail on murder charges every one will realize the gravity of situation.

Its really sad Kavita whats happening with our own seven sisters reference to our eastern states, tragic incidents like this not only cause substatntial loss in terms of human lives and goods but also hampers our econonmy negatively ,Recently only we had undertaken to promote this beautifull ,unexplored regions as toursist destinations but due to this kind of negative happening tourists are unwilling to go there ,really an irony for what the militant group is miffed about is they being not treated at par or their own regions backwardness but they are the ones who trigger of further delayed developments in their area with their own wrong doings ,Its avicious cycle in which all get caught ,keep up the good work of spreading the message
