Following are the causes of lack of Project Management in the Organization.
- Lack of corporate vision - This is the most important reason for the absence of project management in the Organization. This may be due to organization’s inability to link project management implementation with Organization vision and goals.
- Lack of Project Leadership skills
- In appropriate Project Software Tools
- Poor Training
Effects of Lack of Corporate Vision - Higher Expenditure, Duplication of Efforts, Higher Training Costs, Higher Support costs and Resource wastage.
Effects of Lack of Leadership Skills – Poor / absence of Project management, Inability to Satisfy customers, Inability to convince prospective customers.
The Project manager should possess appropriate technical skills. Technical skills are not only the prerequisite for managers. Communication and Leadership skills are also required for managing projects successfully.Effects of poor Training - In many cases, problem caused by lack of project Management arise where employees using project management tools are not properly and sufficiently trained.
The effects are Project Records not updated, Improper Change Control Management, Incorrect activity scheduling.
The factors to be considered for selection of project tools are as follows.
Industry, Organization Size and IT Environment.
