Memo from CEO to Manager

Today at 11.00 am there will be a total eclipse of the Sun. This is when the Sun disappears behind the moon for 2 hours. As this is something that can not be seen everyday, time will be allowed to employees to view the eclipse in the Parking lot. Staff should meet in the lot at ten to eleven, when I will deliver a short speech about the eclipse and give some background information. Safety goggles will be made available at a small cost.

Memo from Manager to Department Head

Today at ten to eleven, all staff should meet in the Car Park. This will be followed by a total eclipse of the Sun, which will appear for two minutes. For a moderate cost, this will be made safe with goggles. The CEO will deliver a short speech before hand to give us all, some information. This is not something that can be seen every day.

Memo from Department Head to Floor Manager

The CEO will deliver a short speech today to make the Sun disappear in the form of an eclipse. This is something that can not be seen everyday so staff will meet at Car Park at ten or eleven. This will be safe, if you pay a moderate cost.

Memo from Floor Manager to Supervisor

Ten or eleven staff are to go to the car park, where CEO will eclipse the Sun for two minutes. This doesn’t happen everyday. It will be safe and usual it will cost you.

Memo from Supervisor to Staff

Some staff will go to the car park today to see the CEO disappear. It’s a pity that it doesn’t happen everyday.

Thanks, Mr Rohit for referral This is a paradox of communication how it reaches the last point down the line. When I attended course on orientation,we performed the test and the last colleague spoke a very twisted phase as in this case.It therefore, suggests that communication must travel with subs and substance (in black & white) through a last destination down the line.

Rajeev Sharmaji is absolutely right that this is how rumours get generated and spread. The end product is totally opposite of the original thought/idea.
Its so funny. It is nothing less than a comic story. There tend to be some mis-communication in any office. But, filtering of message to this level is disastrous for any organisation. Thank you very much for sharing this funny article.

Brilliant. An important aside here from strategic point of view. This is how rumours are generated and spread. Suspicious elements take full advantage of this human nature.

This is the case depicting perils of "mis-communication", quite common these days in corporates. Thanks for sharing.
