Regarding the Qoa trick mentioned above for reserving the bandwidth.... does this work? what is the basis? This can be of any use only if there are programs on the system that require the bANDWIDTH RESERVATION, normally not in XP systems. Also if the network adaptor that is configured is set to use in registry does not matches this setting then there is no point in making this setting.

There have been claims in various published technical articles and newsgroup postings that Windows XP always reserves 20 percent of the available bandwidth for QoS. These claims are incorrect. The information in the "Clarification about QoS in end computers that are Running Windows XP" section correctly describes the behavior of Windows XP systems.

Cool tricks here [:)] for the Notepad as a Diary thing i have a small query. Any idea why this does not work if you use ".log" instead of ".LOG" what difference this capatalization makes!!!

There is a simple feature in Notepad that can make it work like a personal diary for you.Here is how to go about it:


1.Firstly open a blank Notepad file.

2. Now write .LOG as the first line in the file, then press enter. Now save the file and close it.

3.Open the notepad file now and you will find that the current date and time has been appended(put) at the end and the cursor is in the next line.

4. Type your notes and then save and close the file.

5. Each time you open the file, Notepad repeats the process,that is it appends the date and time to the end of the file and places the cursor below it.

The Remedy
** Start >> Run
** Type gpedit.msc
** This opens the Policy Editor
** Now, Local Computer Policy >> Computer Configuration
** Then, Administrative Templates >> Network
** Now, click on QOS Packet Scheduler
** Now, on Right hand side
** Double Click Limit reservable bandwidth
** Now in Setting Tab

It says : Not Configured
Reality : The Explain Tab says "By default, the Packet Scheduler limits the system to 20 percent of the bandwidth of a connection"

** So, on Setting Tab select Enabled
** Now, change Bandwidth limit (%) to 0 (Zero)
** Click OK !!!

An place this file or send it to victim.

When he will click it he will get the warning.You can also try it.

 

Oh in between make sure your victim does not panic and really reformat his harddisk :)

Change the name of recycle bin:


To change the name of the Recycle Bin desktop icon, click Start then goto Run, write Regedit and press Enter. It opens Registry Editor. Now in Registry Editor go to:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/CLSID/{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}
and change the name "Recycle Bin" to whatever you want (don't type any quotes)
