Dear members,

Here i would like to rais the topic that i faced when started working in my own state Orissa.

I found 95% of the corporate using the local language  for there professional communication. Few are using Hindi too. Use of English for internal or external communication is very rare.

I would like to know your view about this.

 Please reply

I guess they have taken for granted on their communication skills, or else they are just happy that they are talking in local language and may be they are more comfortable in expressing their thoughts and ideas in better way to the other person in the local language...until and unless they are getting the things done all is well, but what happens if CEO is holding a meeting and people are not able to give clarity in English then they will feel like disgusting, and people respond well when they are communicating in English in the corporate world and not in local languages....so make a habit of talking and replying others in English itself, if you respond them in the local language then they also do the same...so try to bring in the change that is required.....

It is natural and founded. The corporate means to connect to the lowest rung and in particular spreading message. It works two ways,it pleases the local people and provides in built security to the corporate.

foreign language is used for communication with others
to give a touch to our fellow being local language is best suited
it gives a feeling of mine
In an organization it is important to follow a code of conduct.and having a common professional language is part of the code of conduct speaking in local language or mother tongue is a sign of unprofessional ism in any company, and it should be made sure by the human resource department that everyone follows the code of conduct strictly.

In all corporates, the staffs were selected after weighing them in their own platforms i.e. Sales, Purchase, Accounts, Audit, Stores etc. by conducting interview in their own stream but generally language control would not be checked properly and which must be done. All staves have their own strength in their work but if they fail to converse in corporate language than they lose the credits they contain.

Inside India any way every thing could be managed but by chance any of such guy happens to come out to other country, they face lot of problems to communicate till they get their own person to converse with. This is very common in Gulf. Person having good knowledge of his own subject but not having good command over conversation in English, lack further development and in turn downs the face of India.

Hence English language gas to be developed in all states of India for communication so that every one could exchange their Ideas well.

When we are talking of Indian Corporate - Corporate language should be English mainly and than since Hindi is National language is acceptable (for paper work) but using regional language inside office premise that too while conversing shows the weakness of governing body. It should be banned.

To over come this, recruitment should be done in such a way that all state people should be recruited in different positions so that inter communication may be developed with English which would certainely develop personality of employees and they would develop further boosting to the development of society & culture.

I think the problem is that you have a lot of corporates who are currently used to doing more 'local' business! Its natural then that most of the communication will take place in the local flavor! SO if the organisation decided to cross borders and expand their horizons, they would immediately look for people proficient in that language. I am not surprised with this!

I am quite sure that people who run the corporates at Senior levels would take into account the need and then employ the requisite people suitable for the job!
