A 28 year old, Divya Narendra, son of an Indian immigrant doctor couple in the U.S., has moved to courtroom in battle with Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg. He believes that he, and not Mark Zuckerberg, came up with the idea of social networking website Facebook. Narendra, along with his former Harvard University classmates Tyler Winklevoss and Cameron Winklevoss, has charged Zuckerberg with stealing the idea they conceived over a year, when they were students at Harvard University, reports Ishani Duttagupta from The Economic Times.

Narendra said, "I spent almost one year developing the concept and searching for programmers along with two of my classmates to build what was then called Harvard-Connection.com, which was a social network for Harvard students which was to expand to other schools. When I heard about Mark Zuckerberg for the first time in the fall of 2003, he seemed like a natural fit to join our team. Three months later, Facebook launched and all the time and effort I had put into my vision had been taken away."

He and the twins first tried to convince Harvard's administrative board and president to take action against Zuckerberg. But they had to file a lawsuit as the matter was outside the jurisdiction of the university. While an initial settlement had been reached in the suit, reportedly at $65 million, it was reopened in May 2010. If the current suit goes in favour of Narendra and his friends, the value of the settlement could escalate to about $466 million.

So, what do you think about this people.......

If you have watched the movie "The social network" which was released recently, it clearly shows that Mark zuckerberg stole the idea from Divya narendra and his friends..and it was not mark zuckerberg who had thought of creating facebook.  Plz share your views on this people...

Since the matter is SubJudice and also since I don't have a first hand assessment on the issue, cannot favour either party and comment. Nevertheless... the idea is a novel one, so the conceptualizer and the implementers should be reasonably remunerated, if the are two different parties.

Thats very fine news in the context of indian ,Divya Narendra claiming the idea of creating Facebook. But what were the laggards for him to launch first?what was he waiting for?
Another question that arises is whether he too would be able to donate the half of the wealth(fortune) that Mark Zuckerberg has done to gates charity foundation?.I guess same scenario would not be there had Diviya acquired that fortune?
Indians are certainly at slower side as far as philanthropy is concerned ,it is not indians that are to blame ,but the social structure does not permit the individuals.

Theres lot at stake here...the best is to leave it to a third party who can manage both narendra and mark's concept...

Thanks Kiran for referral.Interesting unfortunately I was not aware of this facts.
I was not aware of all these. And i think that now Facebook is very much popular Social Networking Site these days thats why Narendra wants to get the attention towards him, otherwise why he was sacked till date.
Anyway, its upto the court now, as per the evidence and all some facts should be published further. Thanks for the information.

Let the court decide it with the correct evidence & with detail listening from Mr. Narendra Divya & Mr. Mark.
Whatever the result is but it should not affect on continuation of Facebook.
Thanks for referral,Kiran.& I must say it's good insight.
