When you are looking for a job site, are you asking 'How many resumes does this job site have?'. If you are, then you are selling yourself short. A job site should be much more than just a collection of resumes plus job classifieds. Otherwise, it is not much of a job site, no matter what they tell you.

A job site must provide you with tools and facilities to help you during every stage of the recruitment activity from sourcing candidates to making the final selection. Some of the questions you need to ask are,

1. Does your system provide any indicators that can help me figure out which candidates are genuine?

2. The people I am looking for are in the social and professional networks of my current employees. How does your system help me tap into those networks?

3. Does your system help me use my employees effectively in the recruitment process?

4. I find that 70% - 80% of the people who apply are not suitable/relevant to the job I posted. Does your system help me in quickly identifying these and eliminating them?

5. Does your system help in making it easier for the hiring manager, the HR team and the interview panel to work together?

6. Can you give me a quick overview of all the applicants or do I have to open each resume to decide whether that candidate is suitable or not?

7. Can I keep track of all the interactions with the candidate in one place or do I have to rely on my email system for that?

8. Does your system make my process easier the more I use the system?

Don't just settle for what they condescend to give you. Demand that they simplify and make effective your entire recruitment process.
