In today's scenario brand comparison is increasing day by day , you are facing many advertisement in Television, hoarding, radio (Some level)  and many place direct or indirectly comparison.

 

Last 5 months 34 complained received from consumers complain council against Advertising standard council of india.Especially complaints are like brand comparison, comparative benefit. And always this advertisements are coming from personal care, health or nutrition, household or home care, cosmetics or beauty sectors almost cover F.M.C.G sectors. For e.g shampoo brand, toothpaste brand, hair oil brand, nutrition brand, cosmetic brand , detergent brand (Controversy RIN v/s TIDE).

Ad film character are almost child, teenage and young married women. Why is it happen, why brand need comparison? If brands are compared to each other, can we say that  there is lack of creativity or to make aggressive competition or to show negative points of brand or brand is not quality etc.

If we have so many creativity and we are able to think different, then what exactly reason. Here i will not write the brand or company name.

Is it require to brand comparison? So many creativity, thoughts are available. Brand comparison may give sometime negative effects towards brand. Consumers feel inconvenient while buy those brand.

 

Agree that in india many thing possible copy-past idea, concept, make remix etc.. but at least it must require differentiates otherwise people feel more clutter.

Maybe it is to stroke controversy and to earn free publicity when people talk about the advt/gimmick. Also maybe the creativity simply runs dry at times and people do the non-creative aggressive brand comparison.

I do not find anything wrong in comparing the Brands. Brands have an established marketers & consumers. But, comparing the Brand enables the consumer to decide which brand is to be selected among the Brands available. It is, rather , educative to consumers revealing all efficacies such as the innovation in technology; efficiency in application, use, maintenance ; price etc. 
The criteria on which that consumer wants to buy is made easier.( A compromise on certain special feature of brands.)

When the manufacturer is not sure of his quality, are knows that his product is not all that good, then he has to resort to advertisement of all sorts. Quality product can be sold with minimal advertisemwnt

Thanks for referral. The Brands needs to differentiate between them in order to increase customer loyalty and repurchase and create a niche for them as the best.For this you need the help of advertising companies now it is who they create the Brand awareness. It is amazing to see cut paste is going on at random as of now.

I am of the opinion the good brands can be differentiated from the regular ones by seeing the theme of advertising. Look at accenture consulting and one will understand. They have taken out the advertisement featuring Tiger Woods after he was found to have many relations all across USA.

Brands are compared for 2 reasons: 
1. To show that one brand is superior than the other 
2. Just to get the attention of the consumers.

There are better ways of advertising to create awareness about the brand / product than comparing it with the similar products available in the market.  Now we are in the information age, and we are always bombarded with thousands of info about a brand.  

Hence its always better to have a human touch to any creative presented with some of its unique features of the brand we promote or advertise.  Rest will be taken care by the consumers.

What else can you expect them to do Virag?  India is having a very huge population (121 cr) to attract.  All these "bucket-shop operators" are seeing great opporunities to penetrate.  Some may want to reach through legitimate means, but many resort to disguising practices.  As Shanawaz said they do this to earn free publicity, he is right in saying so.  Ms. Purvi referred about the psyche of every human being to look bigger than the other.  Is there any way out?  No conscious manufacturer who has long-term interest in business would never resort to cheap publicity.  But, its natural for every bright side, you need darker side to appreciate the brightness - that's the law of nature!

Whatever these advertisements leaves us amidst an aura of intense confusion and contradiction as well as it leads our young masses more obsessed with brands and it's values resident within but irony is that still we like to go for non-branded stuff as we can have a bargain and we can be more Indian

A person does not want to grow and look bigger but he wants to make others smaller and thus look big himself. This attitude ends into this type of comparing!!
