Doctor allegedly molested by Chief Medical & Health Officer

Press Trust of India, Updated: April 04, 2011 07:26 IST                                                               Bundi, Rajasthan:  The district authority in Bundi, Rajasthan has ordered an inquiry into the alleged molestation and harassment of a contractual lady doctor by the district Chief Medical & Health Officer (CMHO), official sources said on Sunday.

The district collector has ordered an inquiry into the case following a complaint by Anupama Pandey, a contractual lady doctor, who had alleged that district CMHO Hemraj Niyarta molested and harassed her at the work place on March 30.

When inquired about the complaint by Pandey, District Collector Arti Dogera admitted to have received the complaint and said she has set an inquiry under Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Zilaparishad to look into the matter. "Unless the inquiry is completed, I cannot tell anything more about the complaint," Dogera said.

Pandey, posted as district AYUSH Coordinator, has written a letter to Dogera complaining against Hemraj Niyarta and said that she would no longer be able to work at office as long as he is there.

Allegations of rape and harassment were also levelled against the same medical officer four months ago in December by a widow who had approached him to apply for a job.
If this news has any amount of truth then even God will not be able to save this country.

Hats off to this lady doctor who raised her voice!! other wise in most of such cases Women doesnt complaint so often! I hope this incident will bring out some awareness and courage among other female employees to oppose such treatment at workplace!

We cannot rule this out as one-off incidence. For such occupational hazards, we need to set up a fast track inquiry machinery to bring about facts, action taken. Here, the person in question must be enjoying all sorts of patronage from the political bosses, and free and fair trial for such individuals would be very difficult, in the given circumstances. Excesses are reported from every department under the cover of very strong party in the State. We have to mount pressure on the administration through media, civil society and public at large to bring remedy.

I simply don't agree with Mr.Sham Sunder. If any news or a knowledge or an information creates an adverse affects then it must be discussed not only at Toostep platform but at all such platforms where discussions can take place. I really hardly care for some one who is not able to understand gravity of the situation.

Toostep is a knowledge platform. We are not here to comment on newspaper reports. It does not mean that I do not have concern for the affected lady. I do. But any reference in toostep should have a knowledge quotient. At the least, Mr Gupta could have suggested how such instances could have brought down...Else, he could have kept it open for Toostep to suggest solutions. I now throw this topic open for suggesting solutions not to say "such things are common in India". Meanwhile, I will also think about a possible solution....

It is unfortunate and well I feel so bad that this has happened at my birth place. The news happens to be true and in such small places connections work stronger than the systems and nothing much can be done against such people.

Such things are common in India, only now it is coming to light. All this is because of population explosion, diminishing Male Female Ratio and moraal values in this country. You will see few years later people will start accepting this as normal thing and the result of "Papa one has done in her previous Janma" Such people have backing of politicians.
