In a way we remember most of the day's in the calender year, but we forget Father's day on many occasions. And its on June 21st this year. May be we are not that expressive when it comes to connecting emotionally with our fathers and we all are pretty much close to our mothers as they understand everything no matter what, where as the father the head of the family is busy all the time thinking about our future and trying to give a better life for all of us, but somewhat distance himself from family members in this quest, also fathers is very strict and we never used to tell anything to our father.....

One thing for all of us is sometimes to whom we overlook is our own fathers. They don’t want to spend the day without their children either. Thankfully, I see my father all the time and he’s a very involved and active grandfather, so he’s got the every day of the year thing pretty much covered. However, many families aren’t so geographically close and don’t have that luxury. So don’t forget about your dad on Father’s Day. Give him a call, surprise him & make him feel he is still special to his wards and they still look up to you, as they are our favourite hero.

So what does Father’s Day mean to you?

To me, Father’s Day is a day for the title of this post. It’s for introspection, retrospection, perspective and the reality of being a parent and enjoying every day of your children’s lives. It’s about relaxing and being grateful for.

In regards to my own father Father’s Day means that it’s another day I get to discuss Social issues, Politics and sports with him. Just like every other day. That’s a good thing. So happy every day Father’s Day dad.

So what about you? What does Father’s Day mean to you?

All this DAYS of rememberence are not worthy of in our Indian culture whre we talk of pitrudeva bhava. To me I believe Parents should be taken care in thier old age and we dont need to remind of these days in particular. It is our responsibilty

I agree, It's time father's got their due & start getting recognised for the important role they play in the family. It's not just that old thing, father is head of the family, in the day's of the nuclear family it has changed. These day's father's role has become more visible & coupled with roles within the family being interchangeable, one can say father's have come of age in the field of recognition for them. But one wishes it is not made into another day for commercial exploitation, let it be sobre , sublime - the father & family connect be a private homely affair.

Hi Disha,
My simple questions is that DO WE REALLY NEED THESE DAYS TO REMMEMBER THEM...?

These are unlike World's Environment Day, World's AIDS day, etc...

Regards

I quite agree with you that there is no need of these day's which are celebrated, but I just wanted to tell people that among all the other day's which are not even that important are being celebrated like anything, and something like Father's day is not remembered by many.. and even for me its like I want my father to be there for me everyday and not just on occassions like this...

Disha ,
You are right. Its a day to thanks giving to the father. We should honour him at every time of life,
Once you are back from the examination the mother would ask you my son are you tired, and the father will how is your exams. We will feel bitter by hearing the words of father but that bitter words showing that how much interest he is showing in your career. Bitter pills are necessary for building up a healthy body.
In the famous couplet Thirukural written by Thiruvalluvar an ancient tamil poet
"The duty of the son/daughter is to stand first in the place where they are studying or working" and by seeing that the people have to say what is the penance that his/her dad did in his past to get such a daughter or son like this.
