In India, we have seen substantial openings/jobs in telecom domain in recent 8-10 years. Now the market of DTH is at booming, with multiple service providers coming in. Subsequent to resolutions of technological issues IPTV will also start competing with conventional cable TV (Conditional Access System - CAS) & DTH.
Various consulting firms are predicting double digit growth in media and broadcasting domain in coming 3-10 years. We have witnessed the same based on number of channels had been added in Indian media space, recently.
The war of grabbing subscribers based on various delivery platforms will intensify the completion since the services on each of the platform may not be much distinguishing (currently).
So be it, looking at huge Indian market, all are very optimistic about establishing their identity though the ground realities may be different.
The question here is, will there be a huge need of fresh talent for applications, billing, operations management, provisioning, interconnect etc. or existing telecom professionals would be sufficient enough to manage the things? If not, what all skill sets service provider/employer would be looking at? Is there any such pool of talent is readily available? What all the systems/applications are involved/available in this domain?
Any finally, what would be the career prospective in this vertical?
Thanks
Nilesh
