Facebook Dominates The World Map Of Social Networks !!!
Today it is indeed the age of Facebook. TechCrunch terms it as an unstoppable juggernaut with $35 billion valuations, 600 million users and 25% of all US internet traffic. An even more awe inspiring proposition here is that all of these feats have been accomplished with fewer employees than Google’s job openings.
The latest edition of Italian writer, blogger and photographer Vincenzo Cosenza’s World Map Of Social Work reveals that we do live in its age. Prepared based upon the Alexa and Google Trends for this month, He points out that the social networking giant has overtaken other leading social networks in the past few months, especially in Europe. The analysis also reveals that Facebook is now market leader in as many as 115 out of 132 countries. And those following suit include the professionals’ networking site LinkedIn and micro blogging site Twitter.
According to TechCrunch, Facebook did fare well when the map was started last year. The first edition in June 2009 showed Facebook taking over the world from the West, while the second edition in December shows the colonization of Facebook around the world. The social networking giant has made even greater strides since then.
Vincenzo, in his blog, speaks of a brand new map of the world where the most popular social networks are shown. He also dropped Many Eyes and redesigned the map so as to give each site a particular color which makes the comparison easier over a period of time.
Facebook continues its spell around the world with almost 600 million users. Google owned Orkut is the most popular site in Brazil with equal dominance in Paraguay and India.
His map also highlights various other social networking sites with their main colonies. However, the situation is quite unclear in Armenia, Georgia and Netherlands, where Alexa points Facebook to victory while Google Trends just shows local networking sites.
Notwithstanding all that, Facebook is literally the clear winner if we look at the global scenario. What do you think?
