  • Locating Points (machined surfaces, unmachined surfaces, holes, slots, other)
  • Locating Stability (rigid, fragile)
  • Clamping Surfaces (machined vs. unmachined, supported vs. unsupported, avoiding part damage)
  • Production Quantity (limited vs. mass production, one-time vs. recurring production, projected future increases)
  • Pending Part-Design Revisions

Operations:

  • Type of Operations (machining, assembly, other)
  • Number of Operations (similar vs. different, sequential vs. simultaneous)
  • Sequence (primary operations, secondary operations, heat treating, finishing)
  • Inspection Requirements

Equipment:

  • Machine Tools (horsepower, size limitations, weight limitations, other)
  • Cutting Tools
  • Special Machinery
  • Assembly Equipment and Tools
  • Inspection Equipment and Tools
  • Equipment Availability and Scheduling
  • Plant Space Required

Personnel:

  • Safety Equipment (machine, operator, plant)
