Scientists are trying to find God particle. The LHC, a 17-mile (27-kilometer) long underground circular tunnel near Geneva, was built in large part to hunt out the Higgs boson particle, i.e, God particle.

The theory of physics that explains the dynamics of subatomic particles, the Higgs boson is the particle thought to give mass to all particles. By smashing particles into each other at close to the speed of light in the LHC, scientists can break those particles down into more mysterious particles that are impossible to observe any other way.

IF they find this article it would be a great discovery. But is their really anything like a God particle? Can they find it and can they decode it are all big questions yet to be answered.

Nobody can find God using material means. No scientific experiment can be used to 'capture' God. It is sheer nonsense and a big wastage of the public exchequer. They should focus on providing food to millions of hungry worldwide and study the Vedic scriptures under an able guidance, if they want to know God.

Hi,Leena, nice article and the comments show ignorance and some comments off the mark, actually God particle is more a creation of the media,it's not the language of physicists themselves, the Higg's boson is a particle which,if found, will fill in 'mass' for all the particles in the standard model of atomic physics, that's all.Finding it will validate the 'standard model' which by itself, physicists are unhappy with, because of the 'mathematics',which has lots of 'normaliszations' and 'fixing constants' to make it work.A model which will explain all questions in atomic physics, mathematically sustainable,is some time away, cheers & regards-kp suresh

Leena I think one will not find God this way.

So nice Leena that you began this topic. What scientists are trying to do is study the collision of Protons at very high speed and study, similar to the theory which was introduced by Sir JJ THOMSON , which invented nucleus, Isotopes and deflection of electron and later on Mendeleev in 1869 developed the Theory of Periodic Table. If one has to know the God Particle, try studying Sun, and the chemical/physical happenings taking place at centre and within the sphere of SUN. Very little is known and very little that I know is that "one single Tea Spoon full HELIUM which is taking part in reactions at centre of Sun weighs HUNDREDS OF TONNES.". There may be possibility of getting some idea and finding the traces of GOD Partivle.

In Indian philosophy, we have long realized the God Particle as 'Aum' or 'Om', a primordial sound.'Om' can certainly be found not through the Large Hydron Collider, but through absolute silence. It is only when there is an absolute silence of the mind devoid of thoughts, emotions and sensations that the dream state evaporates and one comes face to face with reality or Om or the God particle. It is in this state that one becomes one with the God particle. Some one said, scientists and explorers of the unknown would be well advised to study and explore their own minds, rather than being totally dependent on scientific experiments. The study of the mind is the gateway to discovering the unknown or God. Mere formulas will just remain that; you won’t get closer to the God particle by studying formulas as the true nature of God is unimaginable and too vast for puny formulas to fathom.

There are two types of Bosons, the vector bosons and scalar bosons. Scalar bosons are difficult to find since they travel in singles where as vector bosons which are the photons travel in each others company or as a cloud.
Considering this logic scalar boson which is the Higgs boson or the God particle can occur only ones in the life of the Universe at the junction point of the beginning of time which is the Big Bang when everything is stand still and time just starts ticking when the Big Bang occurs when the scalar boson which is the compressed matter of all masses of the universe when it reaches a threshold below the Planks constant explodes to be the big band. So this can occur only ones and search for it might be futile since one cannot create big bang in the laboratory, may be they have figured out some way to do it at CERN when they smash tow protons together.

Leena, what do you believe? Will they find it? It is a sort of reverse engineering. The tiniest particle or sub-atom human or any thing made of is difficult to decipher.

scientific world dnt believe in god. they have just named it in that way .its just a nomenclature for them ,but god's definition cannot be defined in finite words ,but u can observe god in ur faithful thoughts u can feel his presence in indian scriptures and mythology. god's 'A' starts where scientific worlds 'Z' ends.

i think they are finding in wrong direction. God i think can not be particle. it can not be matter. well the scientist are working on it to find out but they can not find out because it spread out in the universe. you can find the thing only when it is unique or object. but god i think is not unique it is spread in the universe. it is so big to find but it is rather easy to understand. it is said in our vedas and i found them that our ancient literature describes the god correctly. as in bhagvat geeta Lord Krishna said "i am present in every particle of this universe" i.e. i am distributed and can take a form but that will not be him as a whole that will also the part of the bhagvatva i.e. God.

Nice explanation Mr.Adhrendu. and a good topic Mr. Vipin. Yes internet is having a negative effect on our brain we tend to google everything and do not use our brain in any matter. Life is now dependent on Google and other search engines..
