Yes they are going to be here.. and the first destination is Bangalore...

Google cars and trikes will begin driving and taking street level photographs of public locations around the city.

The images will be made available at a later date in Street View on Google Maps.

Street View is a popular feature of Google Maps, already available in more than 27 countries. It allows users to virtually explore and navigate a neighborhood through panoramic street-level images. It is also available on Google Maps for mobile.

In countries where Street View is available, the user can access street-level imagery by zooming into the lowest level on Google Maps, or by dragging the orange "Pegman" icon on the left-hand side of the map onto a blue highlighted street.

In addition to the cars, the Google Trike - a specially designed three-wheel pedi-cab with a camera system mounted on top - will start gathering images from select locations in the area such as the Nrityagram Dance Village over the next few weeks. The Trike has already collected imagery from dozens of famed places around the world, including Stonehenge in the United Kingdom, Pompei in Italy, Legoland in California, and Versailles in France.

But there are people who think this as a security threat.. The world has become smaller and access to any place big and small is becomning more and more easier.. What do you think about this.. good , bad or well you do not care??

Though its a good thing but I also agree with Sairam, being a terror hit state (also fighting war against terrorism)security concerns can't be ignored.

IT FACILITATES A USER TO REACH DESTINATION WITHOUT ANY HURDLES AND MOREOVER THERE I CAN SEE A THREAT WHEN IT COMES TO TERRORISTS, AS IT MAY BECOME PATHFINDER TO INTRUDE RESTRICTED AREAS.

AND I THINK IT NEEDS HIGH-SPEED BROADBAND CONNECTIVITY FOR NAVIGATION, SINCE ITS ALL ABOUT GRAPHICS.

THANKS FOR SHARING.....

THANKS FOR REFERRAL MANISH.....

It is very useful when you want to go to a new location for work or sight seeing. Also gives an idea of distant places specially if next of kin is there and makes you feel close to them. It is a security threat too as terrorists job of mapping becomes easy.

Nice! Thanx for the referral, Manish. And thanx, Prarthana, for posting this. In hindsight, Bangalore is a great first choice because of the "Banglored" issue. :)

I want to remain nutral, as there is one phrase in our local language, " Jithe Jayche Nahi,Tyacha Patta Kashala Vichara?" - It means that there is no need to ask the address the place, where you didn't want to go!
In simple words , it doesn't make any difference to me , as I hardly use such application of Google.
Thanks for referral, Manish.
