When large organization diversify themselves into different business units then after sometime it becomes very tough to allocate cash to businesses. GE is one of the organizations that find itself in this kind of situation when their business grows to 150 separate business units.
GE developed 9-box matrix strategy to manage portfolio of business but after 2008 recession there will be huge turnaround in world economy and global economy will shift from US/EUROPEAN region to APAC region.
In that case traditional matrix couldn't provide much help, organizations need to follow granular approach for Investment/Divestment. It makes us to develop advanced 2-way 9-box matrix strategy.

Mathew, thanx for your comment. After 2008 crisis several COCO bonds were issued same as I have mentioned an example of Credit Suisse but these bonds are not very successful because they triggers to regulatory ratio which is quite different from market... |
