Human mind is in a flux. At times, we are engaged in too many of activities or tasks simultaneously beyond our natural capabilities or stamina, for instance, learning multiple skills, acquiring diverse knowledge or expertise, implementing multiple plans or managing many jobs. There is hardly one specific focus at one specific time period. Can this lead to qualitative degradation in ones achievements or accomplishments?

Furthermore, qualitative human resource preferably multi skilled and multi talented is always in great demand in the corporate world of business.  Besides acquisition of qualitative human resource, another pertinent aspect of the business management is as how to retain talent, how to hone multiple skills of employees and how to delegate responsibilities making optimum use of human resources.

Insight is derived from a joke that appeared on some websites that i would like to modify into an amusing fable in order to convert it with a thought provoking outlook.

Once, a bird lover looking for a skilled parrot went to a pet seller. At the shop, many attractive parrots were available that could utter some words in human language. One of the parrots was relatively very expensive.

When the bird lover enquired what was so special about that specific parrot, the pet seller replied that the parrot was truly gifted and profound in multiple religions.

He showed different strings attached to the parrot’s body parts and told that if one pulled string on its left leg it starts reciting verses from Bagwad Gita whereas if string attached to the right leg is pulled it starts reciting verses from Quran.

If string on his neck is pulled, it recites from Bible. Similarly, if individually its different feathers are pulled it could recite from various other religious scriptures also.

Curious, the bird lover enquired what if he pulled two strings simultaneously on both legs.

This time, the parrot screeched in reprimanding tone “You stupid idiot, I will fall off my perch and hurt myself, and don’t you dare to pull all my strings at one go, I would not survive then. “

The bird lover is stupefied hearing the reprimand.

Everyone is enthusiastic about owning special parrots.

But, are most of us qualified adequately or motivated enough to take care of them and handle them sagaciously? What is the moral of the story?

Amazing Akshay. According to me the moral would be: Aquired skills are often fragile if not governed skillfully!! Imbibe only what can be reproduced without severely endangering yourself in self deecay!!

Interesting Insight Akshaya! Thanks for referral
The last line is important :
" Are most of us QUALIFIED ADEQUATELY or motivated enough to take care of them and handle them sagaciously?"
Nice Observation & Thought
It proves fatal for an extremely talented person, if his potentials are not utilized adequately OR if he works for less qualified / motivated lots

Nice one Akshay,

I am sure very few are capable to buy such parrots in first place.
So while multi-talented individuals may be available the handler may take awhile to learn to pull one a time and the right one.

according to me the morale is even parrot is multitalented but can perform only one task at a given point of time performing different tasks is difficult and it may get into the problems. if we define multitasking, multitasking is performing of different actions sequentially one after another at a given set of time. For which multi talent is require to perform the respective task. so both are like two sides of a coin. Having such persons in organisation is good. But it is important for company and person too how careful they are in utilising or delivering these tasks at a given point of time taking the organisational environment in to the account.

Very amazing Akshay, the moral of the story is that multitasking is salable provided it is entrusted to a good hands for sale otherwise he can spoil the party. In his zeal to show case his specialties he forgot to remember his deformities. "Handle with care" was the appropriate plate, the seller should have hanged above the parrot.

Wonderful message Mr.Akshay Bhatia.
No harm in knowing & learning several subjects. Because knowledge is power. But at the same time one should know his skill & strength where he can shine. That strength should be reinforced to have specialization. otherwise it will be like jack of all trades and master of none. This is the message from the above title captioned.

Very nice message Akshay.

One can keep learning and learning new things and One has to know his/her own limits and exercise proper controls otherwise it would lead to early burnout. Irony is that to know one’s limits one has to push and push till one reaches the near burnout stage. The art is to pull out at this stage, recoup and then push again.

Just a thought ….

Thanks for the invite :-)

Very Interesting Akshaya
Have you read Sri Aurobindo & Mother's writings; they deal with 'Consciousness"
we have very good proverb/ Advice 'One At A time"
My uncle late Dr. K M Munshi used to tell me that he has' Water Tight Compartment" meaning he concentrates on only one thing so the energy and concentration flows into desired direction; as water is controlled to flow in one particular Channel.
I learn that this is vital for Positive thinking.
I am not a specialist but more a generalist and write/ express what I know or feel.
Regards
Ranjan
