When I was a child, I had great desires of joining the Aerospace and defence. Infact I used to dream and think only of these two terms, and had made it my goal and vision to be apart of that particular sector. As life is full of uncertainities, currently  I am working as management consultant in one of the India's leading organizations. But the enthusiasm and committment towards aerospace and defence during my cgildhood still accompanies me and that is for the reason , I am providing you this article pertaining to the information and happenings around Aerospace and Defence.

The nature of warfare had prompted a move away from large arsenals of traditional weapons to new innovative weapon systems promoting rapid deployment and extreme precision. At the same time, new shared risk and reward agreements and strategic alliances were becoming increasingly popular to reduce the risk associated with major procurement programmes. This resulted in the dramatic evlution of Defence Industry.

There are lot of investments and innovations taking place inside defence industry. Defence spending is being adjusted to focus on more flexible, responsive and mobile force structures with an increasing focus on logistics and lifecycle support. New methods are being used to develop, acquire, finance and support defence equipment, including a determined effort to make wider use of cheaper and non-specialised Commercial.

Now I think that you might be curious enought to know the relation between the defence and aerospace. As Civil aerospace is also undergoing significant changes. With a plethora of new aircraft launches — ranging from the Airbus A380 and the A350 to the Boeing 787, from the Embraer ERJ 170/175 and forthcoming ERJ 190/195 to the Bombardier ‘C’ Series — suppliers are emerging from recession to face a major surge in activity.

Aerospace & Defense companies recognize the challenges in the talent pool shortage for their critical hard to fill positions. As a result, companies are now implementing proper orientation process, recognition and retention strategies.I personally noticed down some of the major challenges for Aerospae and defence Industry, which are here listed for you:

  • Investing in the right capabilities and partners
  • Developing International markets
  • Maximizing the value of domestic national market
  • Securing scale and scope economies in an industry, that discourage integration

Hope this information would have been very productive to you, now I will inform you with the  major happenings round the Globe that rocked the Aerospace and Defence market from the last one year:

  1. Boeing plans to demonstrate high power lasers. Boeing recently told journalists that it will demonstrate its laser energy battlefield weapons in the coming months. However, the company's Airborne Laser jumbo jet blaster-cannon system is not scheduled for a live test until 2008. Aug 21, 2007
