I support the fight against corruption which Anna Hazare jee has started but at the same time my mind is full of doubts.. Many doubts..How can we stop corruption in India?

When I was in school my parents used to pay 10 rupee every month to the peons to take care of me.. Though it was their duty and they should have done the dame without money but those 10 rupees created a lot of difference in their behavior.

Corruption has strong roots. Corruption has to uprooted and the tumors which it has formed like the cancer tumors have to be removed. Even a single cell has the power to recreate it. We are humans and do not have control on the basics feelings like greed. If you are given even 500 rupees to do one work you will happily take it and start dreaming about how to spend it. While when your earn the same you prefer saving it. When this saving and spending ratio has to be balanced you prefer to be irrational. The cleaning of individual from within is necessary and that can be done only by an individual. Perhaps it requires lot of effort and we are too lazy for that. It will take decades to clean it up even if we start today. But if we are really in for it.. We can achieve what we want.

We are yet to answer

1. Where is the root of corruption?
2. How deep is it? ( very deep ain't the answer)
3. Is any area uncovered by corruption, if so then which one?
4. Are we strong enough mentally to fight?
5. What should be an individual plan of action?
6. Will everyone REALLY unite for the cause?
7. Will it be fruitful if only few people join in the revolution?
8. Is a show of revolution the answer?
9. What is our definition of corruption?
10. Do we really understand how is our society impacted by it?
11. Do we have all the answers and a game plan hereafter?

So how will we win the battle.. Can anyone tell me ??

I am sharing an experience of starting a small business in corrupt India. I started a restaurant in Bangalore. I applied for a trade license in august 2011, Senior health inspector asked me 8k for license in place of 3k. I gave because he was blackmailing me that local people will create problem, I have to pay him the amount so that he will manage local people. Later he didn't give me the license and started asking more 8k for license. Then I took help of a local person and managed to get license through that inspector without paying again 8k. He gave me the license in July 2012 after a year my restaurant started. Now a new Inspector is posted in this area. He is telling that he will close my shop because it is in residential area. Now indirectly he needs some under table. I have invested a fair amount, I have to get my license renewed or else who will pay for my loss. Hum Majboor hain. Its almost impossible to stop corruption because officer doesn't have moral values. They never bother if I pay sale tax(But I pay honestly) or not, They need their own under table income. Its very tough to start a small business legally here in India.

We can change India with or without Baba Ramdev & Anna Hazare

There are only few problems

1. We are not united / Unanimous

2. We are not taking the Lead

3. We are egoistic & always fighting

4. Not really interested in Solutions

5. Always blaming others

6. Hatred of any kind

Solutions

1. Honesty

2. Love / Respect

3. Truthfulness

4. Faith / Trust

5. Determination

Hi Gargi ji

The one given to peon Rs.10/- permonth in your child hood is a bribe by your parents. The corruption is something of at a very high level like all the scams we here about and the swiss bank a/c's etc.
The one stop solution is UIDAI or AADHAAR card which Nandan nilekeni is working on it.Secondly as my friend Mr.krisdev;Manthan Awardee and E-Gov.Consultant ,and a Social activist who has demonstrated in remote villages of Andhra Pradesh And Bihar
for Successful Implementation of Bio Metric Card or Smart Card and operated with old computer and web camera and lowcost car operated Batteries in case of powercut was tested for NREGA Scheme;believe me the payment received;and payment made for buying agri-inputs etc.can be captured in the card.To reduce corruption we have to support Mahatma Anna Hazare ji,he is of firm belief 70% to 80% corruption will be reduced and once the lokpal bill is passed in the Parliament the guilty willbe punished and fast track courts will
deliver judgement within 1 year or maximum 2 years. The very purpose is to delink CBI from Govt.Control and Lok Pal will Function under its Umbrella.

gargi ji ever u think we all have same problems that we thik about any matter but not acted firmly to that area so we r fail.ever we try to think who increase corruption ? indeed we r liable for it in our any work/interested we want to work by any how at the same time corruption increase.u ask a question how deep rooted it is? it has reached in our mind and soul.there r many areas where it is not rooted like relation between mother and son or daughter --------- means it has reached deeply in our society and mind but not in our behaviour or culture .u may also see no one can take it openly. i think there is no more worry to all of us because all the person who increased it also fell problem due to increased corruption .so it is soon uprooted but we have to discuss about that continuosly.thanks gargi ji u take a nice topic to discuss

Thanks Gargi for the referral with your posting. People are mentally corrupted which attributes from the existing environment surrounded by corruption practices for each and everything. First we should think not to give to get the things done and the other side they should think not to accept as it is their duty to serve the people. Then next question arises from the political point of view as to what to do with corrupt politicians. The answer will be of not to vote for them in the election and the assets earned by them through scam money should be confiscated.Law should be
enacted not to spend any money during election but to seek support from the public showing/informing/listing their achievements and services rendered to the public. The existing anti corruption laws should be fully implemented without any favoritism and without allowing any loop holes. It should be noted that the laws are there to control or minimize the effect only but unable to eradicate completely. Hence the people should think and take a oath that not to give and accept corruptions. The movement by the mass only can eradicate corruptions in our country. The bureaucrats should be allowed to function/perform freely their duties as per the land of the laws and they should not face any pressure from the politicians. All laws should be made public who are supposed to know as citizens of India what to do and what not to do and in major cases the ignorance of people about our basic and fundamental rights made them scape goat. The law awareness is a must and it should be in their vernacular. The old politicians involved in scams or corruptions should be made to retire from politics and they should not be given ticket to contest. The election commission of India should ensure this mercilessly. The youth should be given priority in politics who should have a min qualification standard. In all educational institutions there should be a one subject on Our Constitution of India. All students and politicians should thoroughly know about our Indian Constitution & laws.

Thank you Gargi to raise your voice in support of Anna Hazare jee, sudden whose name has grown to be a man of all we Indian's voice against corruption. You raised very few question regarding:-

 1.definition,
 2.root and
3.what should be done to control corruption on individual basis.

Few things I would like to share here in respect of corruption on the basis of individual competency which would be differentiated through IQ and EQ. One is intelligent quotient and second one is emotional quotient which is helpful to identify individual characteristics. That's not easy for anyone. IQ is visible because it talks about your knowledge and skill which contributes to be your performance in work place caused to be good and bad remark on that basis of achieved result. But EMOTIONAL QUOTIENT IS not visible in external life and it becomes very very difficult to identify about individual motives, perceptions, belief ,trait, attitude , self concept towards country, organization, society, family, friends, relative and so on.

Corruption is everywhere and in everyone. It's related to existence of human beings. Now questions arise where corruption exist and how it can be eradicated from root.

Root:-

It persist in EQ which encompasses following

 1. Trait :- Traits related to soul which cause to be following good and bad attributes of individual as :-
           1. Fertility of mind
           2. Capability of decision making
           3. Rational to work.
           4. Confidence building
           5. Self actualization
           6. Honesty, Duteous, Obedient.
           7. Submissive, Aggressive, Assertiveness, Arrogant, Initiator, Challenger, Compassionate, Passionate, Polite , Flexible, Patient, Impatient, so on

 2. Motive:- How does it come, very simple based on individual emotions, emotions comes from desire , desire comes from psychological thoughts, thoughts influence by environment and odor, action taking decision decided by fertile mind integrated with rationalism and underlying characteristics or attributes of individual soul.

Have we ever thought about our education system.

-What kind of education we are getting in our schools , college and university.
-What kind of contents is included in syllabus from nursery to graduate level.
-Is this content making man machine or human.
-What kind of study environment we have.
-What is the importance of education in our life.
-What is very important in our life.

Many questions remained unanswered when I think about corruption. Because corruption is in system, we don't have a good system where we can build up man with good attributes bind with emotions. All we bind our emotions to material life only, which has mad people blind to not to think anything else apart lavish life style. When your soul would be blank and mind would be full of desire, than people choose to work illegal step to fulfil that malice desire which is only confine to sex, clothes, food, mobile, posh building and status.

We need person like ANNA JEE too many, but how..? If we can build up a good education system where we can learn the power of emotion which is one and only reason which make ordinary person to a National figure like ANN HAZARE JEE. to eradicate corruption from root.

obviously, corruption has occupied each nook and corner. It is very tough to dealt with but not impossible. There is need to inculcate ethics in the people. For the welfare of future generations there is a need to inculcate moral values in them i.e., upbringing of a child in a proper way. We should not wait up to his grown up stage which can be too late to inculcate moral values.

At first I would like to thank "Gargi" for this great awareness debate..actually we can't call it a debate because nobody is favoring it directly..whether its a political party, corporate giant or a common person.Every Individual is responsible for spreading this DANGEROUS VIRUS .This is a very Important issue nowadays because the revolution started by a Great person like "ANNA HAZARE" ..and gradually he has so many followers...There are so many things to be implemented against it,such as self honesty of every Individual, don't take or give bribe and try to save the property of The Nation.
The word CORRUPTION is very much enough to recall the past..I was not able to control my emotion and started laughing when I went to "MTNL" office for disconnection of the Land-line telephone.I was really impressed by the way of that gentleman who explained me very politely about the each and every work related to the disconnection but he never approached me for the problem which i was facing during uses of that land-line..So he is really not fit for that job which he has been assigned for..Like this we do have so many other live examples about the dishonesty of work and problem related to that.Making the good rules are very easy but adopting them is very difficult. So at last I would like to say that I am going to change myself from today itself will you??? This question mark says the dilemma of life against the poverty and illiteracy which we are facing these days...STOP STOP STOP---- facing the problem of life and try to be a good human being for yourself and your country..sorry mine too...Life is short so enjoy the corruption free ride.

Anna Hazare's "Jan Lokpal Bill" is the beginning. They are open to receive suggestions from the cross-section of society to incorporate changes in the draft bill, though they seek 50% representation in the working committee to draft the bill, before it is passed by the Parliament. This will not end there! They are committed to take it beyond Jan Lokpal Bill - next could be "Electoral Reforms"(People Representation Act, 1951), then "Judicial Reforms". Will they endure this fight? They are committed, and youth (who comprise 65% of the population) - elite youth who are participating in this movement have understood the veracity of this bill are talking sense. Their fight is "Gandhian"! JP movement in the 70s routed the congress which had two-third majority in the parliament. This movement is equated to the movement of JP in 70s by experts. There are divisive media campaign in regional languages mis-interpreting the whole issue!
To answer your initial queries, once an effective system is put into place and a few have been prosecuted and sent to jail, the attitude and methodology of people who are involved in petty corrupt practices would alter their methods automatically. Because, the higher-ups are openly doing it, hence they are also involved! Every individual is frightened of his position!

A lot many citizens of india have supported (morally, of course) Anna Hazare's fight against corruption. Over last three days or so, many prominent personalities have been showing great support to Anna Hazare. There are few highly influential people amongst them who might have experienced the corruption at all levels in the society. They might be in position to point out exactly where the corruption begins. Then why have they waited for Anna Hazare?? and why have they been keeping themselves out of this fight? I mean if a simple person like Anna can take a step forward, why can't these people?
And for the other common people (and I take myself as a part of it), every thing begins with "I" (it must begin with "I", if hasn't already begun)
If we have serious concerns on Corruption, start actions with "I ..."
We must stop asking the question "Who?"... it time for action...

Corruption has become a culture. From the common man to the persons occupying the highest positions. Common man is taking money to cast his vote and nethas lavishly spending to get elected and later on trying to get back their money. We need someone to lead always. Anna Hazare is at the forefront today fighting against the corruption. The nation should march behind him. The corrupt politicians are trying to hijack this movement. Jayalalitha, Ramvilas Paswan, K.Chandrasekhara Rao (Telangana agitation leader), Chiranjeevi (Mega Star of ester years and politician in his new avatar) and so on leaders on whom allegations of corruption in someway or other are voicing and supporting the cause. The political parties and leaders shall not be allowed to take the cause.
