The recent floods in Pakistan killed more than 1600 and left hundreds and thousands of people stranded and considered to be one of the devastating catastrophes in its history. The worst affected areas are Peshawar, Swat, Nowshera, Lower Dir and Char sadda in Khyber Pukhtoonkhwa (formerly Northwest frontier) Kohlu, Barkhan, Sibi and Dera Murad Jamali in Balochistan; besides Dera Gazi Khan and Rajanpur in Punjab.
The floods have washed away millions of hectares of crops, submerged villages and destroyed roads and bridges.
Mr. Asif Ali Zardari, the President of Pakistan who was on European tour denied to cut short his tour while his country is facing a catastrophe. The unwise decision of Mr. Zardari was responsible for the slow response from the human community across the world in coming to rescue of the flood affected people of Pakistan. The weak leadership of Mr. Zardari was responsible for the lethargic response from his Govt. machinery which allowed the al-Qaeda to take up the rescue measures instead.
The Pakistan hardliners and its media started vicious campaign against India holding it responsible for the massive floods in Pakistan blaming that India deliberately diverted waters from its dams when there is heavy down fall in Pakistan. This is ridiculous, irrational and shows the immaturity of minds
- US asked Pakistan to renounce politics and accept the India’s help while stating “ In terms of responding to a disaster, politics should play no role”.
Humanitarian workers in Pakistan say there is no time to waste in securing funds and converting them into relief, and have criticised Islamabad for dithering over India's offer, saying aid should not be linked to politics.
After a week long mulling Pakistan accepted India’s aid succumbing to the mounting pressures from all corners.
India as a civilized nation never been a threat to any nation. Though it is a victim of sponsored terrorism from across the border and memories of Mumbai attack still alive, it has shown generosity in lending helping hand to its brothers and sisters living the otherside of the border when they are in troubles. It is the Pakistan to come out of its tapered view about India and be constructive on all matters and stop abetting terrorism on Kashmir issue or some other issue. If it failed to do so, the ultimate loser will undoubtedly be the Pakistan.
The gesture of India in lending a helping hand to its arch-rival lies in the principle that "Solidarity across borders may be difficult considering the perceptions of the other, but it is all about saving lives.” That’s the major difference between India and any other nation in the whole world. That’s the culture of India. It may be lagging on many fronts, but it’s the only leader among all other nations in showing generosity even towards its arch rival. We know its not the time for blame game, it’s the time for rendering help.

Mr. Vinoy, my point is so clear here. Abetting religious/caste/regional sentiments for party gains is not acceptable and asking someone to cast or not to cast in favour of/against someone is also not acceptable. My reference to "Fatwa" is just an... |
