Clinical trials are conducted to allow safety and efficacy data to be collected for new drugs and devices for medical purposes. Actually, these are research studies that take care about how people affected by new medical services. Each study answers all the scientific questions and tries to find better ways to prevent, screen for, diagnose or treat a disease. Clinical trials may also compare a new treatment, which is already available.

Reasons of having clinical trials

It is one of the final stages of a long and careful cancer research process. Clinical trials are generally considered to be biomedical or health related research studies in human beings that follow a pre-defined protocol. These trials can only take place once satisfactory information has been gathered that depends on the quality of the product and its non-clinical safety. Health authority approval is granted in the country where the trial is taking place.

Types Of Trials

There are different types of clinical trails, some of the important are mentioned below.

Treatment Trials

These trails are generally called test new treatments as it is clear from its name, the treatment trail check the new medication like a new cancer drug, new approaches to surgery, new combination of treatments, radiation therapy and new methods such as gene therapy.

Quality of life Trials

It is also called supportive care trails. This trail is helpful to explore ways to improve comfort and quality for the patients of cancer. It is helpful in chronic illness.

Prevention Trials

These trails look for better ways to prevent disease in people who have never had the disease or prevent the disease from returning. These approaches may include medicines, vitamins, vaccines, minerals, or lifestyle changes.

Screening Trials

This method is the best way to find cancer, especially in its early stages.
