Introduction to Selling and Sales by Rohit Mittal Every one wants to succeed at Sales. Most people don’t. Its not that they can’t. It’s just that they don’t know how. These messages will be series and I intend to learn as I teach. I seek to learn something everyday. I will expect you guys to use these lessons to expand and strengthen your knowledge with the selling process and daily sales challenges. Each of you should spend sometime introspecting yourself asking the following questions. How will do I think I Sell? How do I practice my skills everyday? How much time do I spend learning new sales skills? How many new techniques do I put into practice daily? How dedicated and committed to success I am? Selling is a disciplinary approach. Not a militaristic kind of discipline but a personal dedication to achievement that an only occurs when discipline is present. Discipline is the everyday process of focusing on what you want and striving for it relentlessly until you get it. “As a Sales Person you’re the most important person in the world of business” Nothing happens in business “until someone sells something” To succeed as a Sales professional you must be able to see someone twice. Selling is an art, it’s a science. It is a response triggered repeatable set of words, phrases and techniques that convince the prospect to buy. Like science it requires experimentation to determine that works best or what theories have practical application. Selling is fun, selling is lucrative but only if you’re willing to get serious about your commitment to being the best you can be at it. Selling is not about defining the type of buyer you’re facing. There are a million types of buyers. Selling is knowledge combined with experience. The knowledge you gain about your product. Your selling skills and your attitude. Experience teaches you how to implement the knowledge you’ve. It’s a science. To succeed at selling you must realize that there is not just one way to sell there are thousands. You earn a little from every one and combine it with your experience and adapt it to your personality to develop your style. Importance of Goals? You have several goals you want to achieve but they are not written down. They just pop in your head every once in a while only in a while only to be buried in a black hole of procrastination, excuses and guilt. To achieve Goals you must do the following “Don’t let once people tell you” you can’t tell then how you will and ask for their support.”
- Goals are the road map to success. Everyone knows that but fewer than 5% of our society sets and achieves them.
- Goals are related to everything we strive to achieve from our daily to do list to earning.
- Goals setting and goal achievement is a science and self- discipline that must be practical everyday.
- Make a decision as to which goals you specifically want to achieve.
- Make a personal commitment to your self to do whatever is necessary to achieve you goals.
- Be relentless. Don’t quit in the pursuit of your achievement.
- Do a little towards your goal everyday. Write down how much (or how little) you must do each day in order to achieve.
- Harness you personal power. Discipline yourself. Focus on your commitment.
- Enlist the help of others who will support you.
- You must get the support of others in order to achieve your goals.
- It’s easy to get support all you have to do is give support.
- Don’t be vulnerable to the negative influence of other people.
- Work on two of your goals everyday even if only for a short while.
- Visualize yourself doing the steps necessary to achieve you goal.
- Visualize yourself actually achieving you goal
