When electronic media came into existence it has captured the market, increasing its reach to almost every household. Now with over 50 news channels launched, it fails to follow the basic rules of respect and social behaviour. It is an accepted fact that several news channels on the electronic media, adopt all sorts of marketing gimmicks to sell their news stories, but also give no thought while assassinating the character of an individual without any corroborative evidence. These news channels are in a hurry to be the first to break news and beat their nearest competitor. Hence, they go on to violate several norms and ethics, which are being taught in the classes of journalism., Sting operations, which came in vogue and increased the Television Rating Point (TRP) of such news channels also came out to be bogus and made without any planning and proper enactment.
In India, the electronic channel came into existence in the form of Doordarshan and slowly from 1969 onwards it picked up its market and started increasing its reach to several households. After the ninth Asian Games held in New Delhi in 1982, its popularity increased and the charm of watching news on TV with visuals attracted millions of viewers to it. Then came the sad day for India, when on October 31, 1984, Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was assassinated by her own bodyguards. Her ’Live Funeral’ sparked nationwide anti-Sikh riots and thus, electronic media established its power.
Then again this nation witnessed some horrible scenes of bloodbath when the disputed structure came down in Ayodhya in 1992. After the PV Narasimha Rao government began its economic liberalisation programme and opened the doors of Indian economy, the government allowed private satellite channels to beam their programmes, the Zee group was the first to start a 24-hour Hindi news channel and then others followed in his footsteps.
Now with almost over 50 news channel, the race to be on the top has been getting tough with each passing day.The spurt in the number of Hindi news channels, has forced their marketing heads to pressurise journalists to bring sensational news, for which money is no constraint.
In a bid to be the first, these journalists are neither interested in investigating the authenticity of the contents nor keen in finding the truth behind the story. Many of the journalists feel they are working overtime and have no time to examine facts critically as that would result in someone else breaking that news. They want to be the first whatever be the quality of their content.
Most of these news channels also do not have any sense of presenting the news. They keep on repeating the same story for almost all the day. The latest being the Aarushi murder case of Noida. The CBI is now interrogating the case and all these channel journalists are playing the role of detectives. They suddenly found themselves in the shoes of Sherlock Holmes and every journalist came out with a theory of his/her own.
I think in future electronic media must evolve some professional framework and must draw a Laxman Rekha as it has a deep impact on the psyche of masses.

I find this article full of confusions, I couldn't understand the purpose of this article... I find the article should well be placed under the debate category this is not fit for insight...
Before, we examine the role of media particularly the electronic media, we must also examine the expectation of the spectators or viewers of the media. Now, the age in which we are living is the age of information... We are living in the most progressed era of our generation.. we are not now a days rely on the comments, personal views, suggestions etc. and this role of media is not now a days as effective as has been earlier...
The electronic media capturing the truth is itself may called as investigative it doesn't matter what elaborations are being presented by the media.. after all we are the intelligent viewers we must be capable to understand the positivities during the process... but just on the argument of negativity we should not opt for restriction of that process which are making alive the circumstances going on...
In nutshell I must say that if you are opine that the information remaining only with team leader is sufficient for the optimum performance of the whole team then you are always on wrong side...
So we neednot to advocate the process of flow of informations and the way it is being flown. In fact we need to get updated intelligently with the process... The media persons are patriotic when they were capturing the live on terror attack so we must also salute them...
