Go green.. we hear this a lot of time but what is happening around?? Sparrows are on verge of extinction.. People kill animals.. they spare nothing.. I would not say that going vegetarian is a way but there are many thigns we can do.. but do we??

Yesterday on my way back to home I saw a boy was carrying a pigeon with him.. I asked him was the pigeon injured and he said he was goin to play iwht it and that I do not need to interfere.. It was simple the guy had caught the little bird and taken away its freedom... Heartless...

Recently in Delhi nations with higher population of elephants met to discuss how to save the elephants.. From poaching for their ivory to habitat loss, every issue to conserve the elephant needs to be addressed..Wildlife experts say both the African and Asian elephant face numerous threats and a combined effort from all countries was needed to ensure the animal's long-term survival.

Not just elephants there are many more animals to be saved but will we do that.. Here we are worrying about ourselves ..creating pollution and making homes on the lands of these animals just because they cannot speak and claim the ownership of the land.. What should be done?? Anyone??

The best thing to do with animals is......save its habitat and let them flourish. The only thing we should try to conserve is jungles, the plants in them and the environment around it i.e. air, water, soil etc. However more 50% of the species ever lived went extinct and we didn't killed them all....we should realise that nature changes, some animals will go extinct and some new species will be born and humans shouldn't interfere with it. We have caused some damage and will probably continue to do so unless nature wants to shake us off from the face of the earth.

If you ask me to be more candid, then my answer is "YES", we're keeping animals as animals and not treating them as another life on this earth. We tend to forget that nature comprises of all living beings humans are just a part / one of the species.

We think that we rule this world, and whenever we want to show the ego we barge into their space (forest) and build our required factories and whatever we want to do with it.

We should have stringent laws to empower and educate the more evolved species (us) and make sure that its been followed more stringently.

What do you expect in nation of "SELF SERVICING TALKERS?"
If people find it difficult to think of neighbor or fellow humans or next generations where do you think animals or birds will find a place in their plan of deeds.

TODAY'S MAN KILLS AN ANOTHER MAN.

THIS IS THE PRESENT SITUATION AND I DON'T THINK SO ANYONE WILL COME FORWARD TO SAVE THESE SPEECHLESS ANIMALS. LET THE GOD DECIDE THEIR DESTINY. THE PROPAGATION OF ANIMALS MAY BE IN OUR HANDS, BUT SAVING THEM MAY BE THE FARTHEST THING FOR US, SINCE NOTHING IS IN OUR HANDS.

I WOULD LIKE TO RECOMMEND TO WATCH HEAVY PETTING IN NDTV GOODTIMES ON EVERY SUNDAY, PROVIDES MAXIMUM INFO ABOUT ANIMALS.

Thanks,Manish for referral. The natural law of averages remains constant. The species flourish, habitat and survive. The extinction is a part of evolution. The most powerful dinosaur are extinct or evolved. It is true that humans have reduced the forest areas resulting in dwindling population of certain species.Dogs, cats, cows ,horses, elephants, pigeons have been domesticated. Dogs and cats are most versatile among them because of their natural instinct of s survival. Let us resolve not to destroy their habitat so that eco balance can be maintained. No body knows that thousands of species are there to keep us safe.

Whether one can agree or not, it is the truth of current materilastic world, as everbody is involved in itself only & hardly any time to contribute for some social cause.
Thanks for referral, Sulagna.

Go Green and you will see the animals from being endangered to being saved. All they need is a habitat to survive which we can create by GOING GREEN.

Yes I feel so. Increasing urbanization & industrial development makes their life hard. Even though, artificial lakes, reserves, parks are made to attract these species, man-made disturbance distract them & do not lend a place for roosting.

Going vegetarian is the first step I have taken and then planting of trees and helping to grow the natural habitat required for animal can be secondary thing I follow. Thanks for referring.

Yes Sulagna. In today's busy, self-centric, nuclear world helping other human beings is last on our list. So asking to help animals! Isn't it too much demanding? I think, prioritizing things as first/last is not a problem. Problem is how much do we understand the need of others? Be it human or animal. If one is having time, money and intent, this can be executed as first thing. Need of restoring societal values is must.
Thanks for ref. of good subject.

1. We can start by placing the stray dogs and cats in kennels sponsored by the community or panchayats or corporations etc.

2. Its better we avoid McDonalds, KFC etc that encourages surplus meat. Instead we eat meat according to our immediate requirements. This will reduce surplus and also we respect their existence by not turning them into our time pass junk food.

3. Provide a green place for stray or owned cows and buffaloes (from personal exp in Madras and Bangalore). Avoid their parking in the middle of roads and dividers causing traffic as well as headache to midnight truck drivers.

4. In schools, teachers should encourage students to keep pets. By this way they will learn to be friendly to animals.

5. Place gardens, pools and plant trees in each locality to provide some shelter for birds and any animals.
I agree with Satadru about saving the habitat. We should save our trees (in my locality the trees are the habitat for some colorful unidentified bird species) in our area initially, and then think of ways to save wood (like taking care of our wooden furniture and not discarding it too soon, and using less paper). I also think at the heart of all the problem is human population explosion with forests being denuded for setting up colonies, so we need to control our birth rate too.

Unless you start caring for milching animals, this movement remains only worthy of discussions. After all, the milching animals directly benefit the mankind.
