Many of us use facebook. Job hhunting on facebook does not look much believable and we are forced to think that will it work?

Still there are few things which can be done to atleast increase our possibilities.

1. Join right communities and interact with right poeple. 2. Search for apps which have job search options. 3. Potray yourself in the best possible way. 4. Mention your professional skills on your profile. 5. Keep an eye on adverts, there are many job openings in them

We all work hard for a better life and we always want better job than the one we have. So we should use all the possible means to make it happen.

First of all thanks Renne for sharing this interesting topic. Yes Social networking is the ideal way for job searching but it will work when it should be in an appropriate manner. Through social networking sites we can keep in touch with many people from various work backgrounds even we can share our knowledge and ideas which can improve our knowledge & skills on particular field or topic. One can join and be a part & parcel of the community or a group of his/her interests which can help a job hunter to get the best suited job to his profile or even can improve the work knowledge by asking the and taking help from the experienced people.

Facebook is a social networking site, we can not consider it as a business networking site or a job portal. But it is a very good tool for Marketing your business and products. If you are serious about job hunting through a networking website, I would suggest you to be active in linkedin rather than struggling in Facebook.

I disagree with you. Sites like FB are more for networking or getting in touch with long lost friends. I doubt whether it could land you a job. I would prefer linkedin or toostep for that instead which are not social networking sites in the exact sense as FB. They are more of industry networking sites.

But again i may be proved wrong because social media is still evolving and one cant rule out anything at this juncture.

I don't think it is a good idea to look for a job using a site like facebook. By putting your request on facebook you will be able to reach a much wider audience but honestly you have no control as to who should know that you are looking for a job. Your request could get into the hands of anti social elements, your competitors, you jealous co-workers etc who could sabotage your job hunt.

I do not know how many of you have ever experienced the evil side of social networking sites.
First of all it is not reliable, people inside the face book use the site for fun and the official sites are operating more for a kind of free publicity of their brand name rather than any serious effort to exchange job profiles for the job seekers. It may be a perfect site to say Hi , hello to your friends and relatives but not to the unknown as many persons are using this platform by hiding their real identity in disguised manner. I am sorry to say that I opted to close my profile twice in Facebook and is not interested even.
The most interesting part that I would like to share is that when the existing most popular JOB SITES are becoming failure to tap the potential work force, I am a bit confused, how can social networking sites can help the jobseekers.

Renne yes sounds interesting. At the same time one should not be a job hopper since by every passing day the benefits are on the increase for all new entrants.

Ok now you might like s/w field but might not suit you. So what try and figure out what are you good at. Do not think about money. Once you have figured out make yourself best in that field and money will follow.
