Kingfisher is a big banner and we see this brand doing many things including lavish waste of money in various events. This all is done though it has a lot of money due. The payments to airport operators, oil companies and vendors of all imaginable items are due and its a massive due.

130 pilots have left the company and major flights have been canceled.

This is the time to stoop wasting money on calendars and start paying to all, isn't it?

Do you thing they have lost it all in show off?

The Kingfisher's present situation is due to the concentration only for upper class, it is highly niche market. Low cost airlines creator Capt Gopinath always telling him to concentrate on Indian market, Low cost will really works here. when Air Deccan merges with KF, mallya didn't bother about Low cost strategy. When Air Deccan introduced low cost airlines in 2003, all others competitors were in trouble, it was the great success for Capt Gopinath, but when Air Deccan merged with KF it will not continued. so now he is facing problem.

One cannot be sure about this situation of Kingfisher Air, unless one know more about their business which for not only KF but every business is hard to come by from news media.
I have seen that they have some very interesting financing plans for purchase of their Aircrafts from their manufacturers like Airbus which let them write options on their payments on purchase which means they need to pay only as they go on, sharing profits from bottom line I presume. This reduces risks of foreclosure due to slump in economy. Slump is not the responsibility of the management unless the cashflows are purely planned on boom cycles and the carrier costs etc;. I heard that they have close to 180 aircrafts and knowing their financing structure I feel they are not in much trouble of defaults. It seems they planned their existence on boom cycles and suddenly the slump caused by contractionary policies make them cringe and they are planning to get out of low fair category to high fair category. All those who travel on KF has no complaints and all feel comfortable and well taken care off unlike other airlines and this speaks of their will and mission. Making money and risks are other things which depends much on boom/bust cycles of the economy. Thanks

i don't think Kingfisher wasted money. rather they went all around to make money and forgot about the priorities. Kingfisher always behaved like his owner. it was never a corporate one. purely personal, with glamour.

hello Kavitha,it seems this is one more a corporate drama rather than actual situation.can anyone beleive that anything will happen without Mr.Mallya's knowledge?

Presence in company is more affective in generating profits than presence in social events. Moreover, marketing the brand matters. How does calender relate to airlines?
A company cannot go bankrupt in a day or two, the past records should be checked and corrective measures needs to be taken to uplift it.

Kavitha Vijay Mallya is a moody and sentimental business man and such suffering or say loss will not deter him from what he likes like his Airline.
At last he cannot copy Sir Richard Branson...

Bailout by the government should be out. Should restructure entire management who are basically responsible for this mess up by giving wrong advices to chairman.should ask for assistance from lead banks to provide finance for cash flow or have different option to procure finances and ensure proper fund utilisation with an effective action plan approved and controlled by the finance providers

Why do they have to shut dowm Red, assuming that the prices are on par with other low carriers. Also, due to recessions in the USA, ppl are becoming more and more wary of luxury items as even necessities are becoming hard to come by!!

Mr. Mallya is running an airline like a beer factory. It is his style of management that is causing the problem. He should have relook at the way things are run and managed in KIngfisher. Only then the airline can function.

What you said is wrong and shows your half-knowledge. The brand " Kingfisher" refers to lifestyle, attitude and Personality. The United Breweries Ltd and USL are now worlds No.1 Companies in the Industry. 65% of entire revenue of UB has been taxed and this group is the highest tax payer to the county.

The thing is, FLY KINGFISHER has problem with the Aviation Authority in India and It is fighting for it in the right way...Thats it.......

Simple and Clear case of misplaced priorities.
Brand image alone can not afford to sell an operationally mismanaged product.

Kingfisher suffering! we can't say that because of reports. As we have seen that they have close down kingfisher red as they are more generating revenue by full cost carrier and if we talk about loan which they are taking from airport authority of India as per their figures showing loss, and by this only we can't make fair analysis.

Its not the show off that has hit them rather the grandiose plans of Vijay Mallya that includes putting his nose into F1 when even bigger entities like honda have withdrawn. I feel it is the F1 and IPL investments that is draining him - both of which are yet to wield profits. Printing and shooting for calendars is not going to drain you as much as the former two.

Vijay Mallya thinks himself to be the Hugh Hefner of India. Now he is doomed financially and very soon a case may be filed against him for corruption.
He will then be serving kingfisher to Kanimozhi and Kalmadi.

It is all gimmick & showoff to attract lenders & investors to his project. Why KF none of Airlines are making profit, except Indigo LCC is made marginal profit.

Airlines business is a strange business you need a deep pocket to invest & sustain growth amidst of volatile fuel prices & escalating staff & operation cost. Even corporate owned aircraft is lying idle, except a very few bigwigs are using regularly.

Mallya has always has his core business 'Liquor' which is giving him tremendous profit. Day by Day Liquor demands are going up thanks to youngsters including a idiot actor who went to the court when Maha govt tried to introduce upper age limit to cultivate responsible drinking habit, by claiming at 18 we can vote & Marry why not drink with out realizing the former two are responsibilities. Strange the media is also highlighted and given this incidence as if a violation of constitutional rights?
later-on some sensible guy reported it was to promote his new film release.

Do not worry Kavita the market will teach them a lesson. These are the outcome of Governments bad economic policy without its implication on common man leading to disaster.
Thanks Kavita.

This is good sign. Atleast the government will be forced to think twice before trying to sell Air India/ Indian Airlines.
Already two down(Paramount, Kingfisher). One more on the way.
Mr.Aviation minister start thinking about turning round the airlines and not spinning it off.

Actually, since more than 2 years , Kingfisher is suffering loss overall financial sheet as well as also going down image also. Yet, it has seen anywhere that kingfisher is trying to recover its image, money, good business etc.

If you will see the face of Vijay malya , you will get entertaining expression, like spending more money on sports event.

Let's see what they will do.
