During last month a petition was filed by a Madras advocate A K Balaji behalf of the "Association of Indian Lawyers”. He alleges 31 foreign law firms and a legal process outsourcing (LPO) company are practicing law illegally in India. Balaji argued in his affidavit submitted to the court that some of the international law firms have their office in India and practices Indian law by calling themselves as LPO. The firms are running a law firm in India without obtaining any prior permission from Indian government and the concern authorities.  Here they are taking protection under the guise of LPO. This is complete violation of our country’s Income Tax laws, Immigration laws, RBI rules & regulations, Bar council of India rules, Advocate’s Act, and etc. This kind of activities of foreign law firms have to be found and blacklisted. So he is asking the Madras High Court to backlist the activities of such foreign law firms in India.

I am inviting all of you to debate on this issue that do the legal outsourcing doing any good to our economy or as alleged are foreign law firms and LPOS are practicing law illegally in India.

LPO is a new concept in India and it is growing day by day..... With the help of LPO a normal average LLB graduate can earn upto 2.7 lakh p.a and experience one can upto 8.0 lakhs p.a ...... which is quite high than practising law..... this LPO work is quite easy and not like a stressful work........ by 2015 LPO want approx 2 to 3 million LLB grads........ So grab the oppurtunity......

Legal Process Outsourcing companies (LPOs) are those companies that provide legal services in foreign laws such as U.S. laws, Canadian laws, etc. They not only build and boost the Indian economy by creating significant employment opportunities in India, but also create and develop Indian market for Legal and Knowledge Process Outsourcing (LPO and KPO). Foreign law firms functioning solely as LPOs do not engage in the practice of law in India. While it is indispensible to regulate foreign law firms practicing Indian law, it is not essential to restrict or regulate foreign law firms providing legal services involving foreign laws. In my opinion, provision of outsourced and offshore legal services do not have any adverse impact either upon the practice of Indian law by the Indian law firms or upon the Indian economy.
