Location based Info Centre on handhelds in CDMA system

This approach will provide important information along with the current location of the user. It will help user to closely locate the surrounding places of his interest. The list of places may include shopping malls, commercial establishments, administrative offices, historical monuments, entertainment centers etc. Even user can add the items into the list of own choice.

2. Uses

This application will be very use full to user and it will have below mentioned features:

• User’s current location name
• Nearby important places
• List of places of his own choice
• Route map between two locations
• Approximate distance between two places
• User defined list of places in surrounding
• Location based triggers
• Location based automatic answers to calls and SMS responses

3. Calculations

Location of Bangalore is 12.58 N Lat and 77.38 E Long. At equator 1 degree longitude is equals to 111.79 km.

Earth rotating speed = 17.366 miles per minute

      1 degree              = 4 minutes

      1 km                   = 1.609344 miles

1 degree at equator = 17.366 * 1.609344 *4 = 111.79 km

Practically accuracy of 1 km is sufficient for the application. So the location should be calculated till 5^th decimal point.

1 km = 0.00892 degree

Area of Bangalore = 625 sq km

Area of Delhi          = 1483 sq km

25 km wide and 25 km long area covered by 9 or 10 BTS each BTS cover 5 sq km area. Approximately 250 places will be sufficient to make the application useful out of 250 places 200 can be predefined and 50 can be user defined.

Each BTS will be associated to 25 places out of which 20 are predefined and 5 users defined.

City can be represented by following diagram assuming the city is 25 km long and 25 km wide. All BTS can be assigned to a particular location so whenever user moves to particular BTS area corresponding location name can be displayed.

Predefined 20 standard routes can be stored connecting all major location in city. Each route may contain 5 important locations. The neighboring places can be searched using BTS location associated list.

4. Interfaces with other modules:

Protocol layer is responsible to provide the current co-ordinates of user location i.e. BTS location co-ordinates in terms of longitude and latitude. Further database will provide all relevant information like list of places etc. UI will provide the entire required interface to interact with application including allowing user to defined important location of his choice.

Interface with other module may require setting a location alarm sending SMS to caller etc.
