Machine shop

Machine shop, sometimes referred to as “Back Shop”, is a kind of facility where various parts are machined, that is they are cut, fabricated and finished to meet final requirements. A machine shop generally equipped with basic tools such as lathes and drill presses among other specific tools like a shaper/planer, grinding machine required for machining with well managed ventilation, painting and coating divisions for finishing purpose. Nearly all machine shops these days rely upon new age CNC machining and laser cutting services for cutting.

Machine shops are used to create new as well as repair existing parts and equipments. People working in a Machine shop usually undergo training before working and most of them are specialized people. Various day to day equipments like cars, household products along with high industrial products such as aircrafts, heavy engines and other manufacturing machines are prepared in machine shop in some extent or more.

Amidst such complex procedures and heavy industrial equipments, strict safety protocols are enforced to avoid any kind of accidents. Along with proper training, workers need to wear goggle, helmet and wear face coverings. Some high tech robots are also employed to carry out process that requires clean environment to avoid foreign contamination. These robots are either pre-programmed or controlled from outside of the processing room.

As the industrialization is increasing heavily, many colleges have started having their own machine shops for providing hands on training to students for better understanding. Various works such as laser cutting, sheet metal fabrication and metal stamping to produce new products are done in Machine shop.
